what does everyone thing of Mara. The counter service location at Animal Kingdom Lodge. how is the quality of the food. service?? Seating?? any special items that other resort counter service locations may not have. also where is it located in the resort? We've been there and been to boma a few times and havnt seen any signage to where it would be. Thanks for all reveiws.

We thought the food was better there than any of the counter service at AK park. They have a wide variety & a fair amount of room to sit. Plus, they play old Mickey cartoons on the tv which DS enjoyed watching while he ate. It is located right next to the pool. I don't know how to get there from inside the resort. We took the elevator to the pool & walked over to Mara.

Mara has been consistently solid for CS. I love that they offer the Zebra Domes from Boma, also their pizzas are large enough for 2. As for where it is, if you go out the door between Boma and Jiko toward the pool Mara is off to your left.

We stay at AKL almost every trip and have eaten at Mara often. We've always enjoyed it - I honestly cannot think of 1 thing that we did not like. Along with the typical burgers and pizza, they have some specialty things. The african stew served in a bread bowl is really delicious. The butternut squash soup is to die for, and you can get it for a snack credit. They also have a grilled chicken pita with a cous cous salad on the side which is very good. Breakfast items are always hot and fresh, and the choices for dessert (zebra domes, carrot cake) are great. We've always found the lines to move quickly, but we generally travel off-peak times. The seating area is always clean, the seats are plentiful and there are some outside too.

I think the Mara is a terrific food court. They offer a good variety of entrees, including salads and soups - something else besides hamburgers and chicken for a change! Great service, very friendly. Nice cookie/pastry counter. And there is plenty of seating. It's not nearly as large as the value resorts or Riverside Mill, so it's not as loud.

We stopped in there once for a lunch snack, the fries were terrible, the fried shrimp mushy and greasy. We are going to stay at the AKL in Oct and will try it for breakfast....never met a CS breakfast I did not like
