We are staying at AKL for the first time..we are not diners, my kids may eat a half a hamburger for lunch, so dining at Boma's or Jiko is pretty much a waste for us. I am wondering what the counter service (it IS counter service, isn't it?) at Mara is like? Is it a pretty large dining area, quick ordering, cooking, crowded at breakfast? We usually don't dine at the resort except for one or two quick breakfasts, so I was just wondering what we are in for.

Also, do they have AKL refillable mugs, or the YOMD ones like other resorts? I wanted a regular resort mug from PC this September, and all they had were those YOMD mugs. I want an AKL one for my collection.

So far, I can honestly say my DH and I think Mara is the best CS place at any resort. I just love it! It has been awhile since we were there, and when we got breakfast, it was late morning, so it was not too crowded. I am sure it depends on what time of year you go, what time in the morning, etc.

I never use the refillable mugs so i don't pay attention to them, but hopefully someone will be able to answer that for you, or you can go to the AKL thread on the resorts board and ask there.

I agree with WLL, Mara is probably our favorite resort CS restaurant as well. It is very well laid out, easy to get what you need, roomy, always seems to be tables, has a nice selection of both picky & adventurous eater type foods.

I don't know about the mugs either since it's been a few years since I stayed there.
