Does anyone have a link to a map showing the preferred rooms at Music or know where I can find one? I had to book there, standard room, for free dining and just wanted to see where we might be.
Thanks:)

This is the page with the ASMu Map here at wdwinfo:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmusicmap.htm

While it doesn't point out Pref vs. Std. rooms - I think that it is simply based on the buildings - Calypso and Jazz are Preferred - the rest are Standard.

Although I know at one time only Calypso was Preferred - I think.

They've changed the Std. - Pref. at the All-Stars in the last couple of years - I'm trying to find the most current information - until then, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Okay, I'm reading a bunch of other Disney related sites as I try to answer this - a number of them seem to state that ONLY Calypso is still consdiered Preferred - all others (including Jazz) are Standard.

Thanks for the link. I was hoping for preferred just because I'm traveling with my mom who is diabetic and has some minor mobility issues. I'll keep trying to see if anything opens up.

Just read your second post. I'll call tomorrow and put in a request for Jazz. I know nothing's guarenteed, but it's worth a try. :)

i stayed at ASMu last year for free dining.

we had a king bed... got it at the front desk by chance!
see it never hurts to ask at the desk!!!!

only calypso was preferred....

There was information somewhere regarding room requests - I might have read it at allearsnet.com - anyway, it is the resort itself that assigns the rooms - but they will take into account notes made on the ressie itself.

I would suggest calling and requesting Jazz, but then sending a fax to the resort about a week in advance of your vacation (I think it's about a week, it might be less than that - I'll have to check) outlining your request - and especially in your case, include the reason.

Disney is generally quite good about accomodating medical issues - if your doctor is willing to write a quick note regarding this issue, you would likely get a room in Jazz as close to Calypso as possible.

Additionally, Disney has released rooms for this promo - it doesn't mean that EVERY room in Calypso is booked - just the ones assigned for Free Dining. When you arrive, you could ask if there are any rooms in Calypso, and if you could move (you will probably get charged the extra though). It's possible that they will put you in Calypso with that request upon arrival, and you can still keep your Free Dining.

Good luck!

Thank-you for the suggestions. I've never worried about room location before traveling with DH and the kids, but I want to make it as easy as possible for DMom. I will definitely put in the requests while keeping my eye out in case preferred opens up. :goodvibes

Problem with "preferred" is that the BACKSIDE of Calypso is still considered "preferred"! The first time I book preferred, Disney stuck me on a parking lot view in the Calypso building. ICK.

I downgraded to "standard" at the front desk, and we got a nice courtyard/pool view in a building that was slightly further back.

It's a risk either way.

i always do standard rooms. its just me and DBF. we are in our late 20's and have no kids. so eventhough i would like the closeness of a preferred, i leave them for those who have families, people who have one of those ECV or ECV or whatever its called, or if you are older like my grandma. not thats im saying older people can't walk far.. but my grandma has walked enough in her lifetime. she deserves the extra few minutes of not walking :) i just thought that i would ask for a king bed this time. see, DBF has this problem where he just can't stay on his side of the bed. he has make sure that when he is sleeping one part of his body touches every single availible space thoughtout the night! hello chiropractor for me! our queen that we have at home is too small. im left hanging over the edges of it sometimes! the CM said that he didn't think so... and he said, oh! you are lucky i have one for you! it was in the jazz building. didn't really have a view of anything but this tree and the golf cart that was always parked there.. but let me tell you.... i may have had the space of a twin but at least my arms weren't hanging off the side! Jazz buildings weren't too far from the front.. when you are walking towards your building from the main enterance its just a minute past the pool. so this year, i might ask at the front desk again. but if not.. this year im going to make him sleep in his own bed by himself. i'll give him my pal mickey if he gets lonely :rotfl:
