Many Unavailable Rooms in Jan/Feb. Any ideas why?

I am trying to determine resort room rates, etc. for a trip from 1/25-2/4; however, the Disney website continues to tell me that there are several categories blocked out. Normally the cheapest three categories and some of the most expensive suite categories; I've searched GF, YC, BC, and CR. The Poly is the only one that all are available and ironically it is the one that I've read could have construction in January! This is the first easier time of year that we're going, so I can't imagine that this far out would yield nothing available. Is anyone else having trouble with this? Also, I've heard that they release blocks of rooms at a time. I just can't imagine them not having anything available if a block has filled up unless they are reserving the rooms for the discount that comes out later this year for that time period.

We will be visiting that same week in January and I also noticed very limited availability at some resorts. There have been a few threads discussing this over the past few weeks and one of the theories is that blocks of rooms are being held for conventions at those resorts and perhaps some of the rooms will be released later. In comparison, the resorts we've been looking at are WL, AKL and Poly, which have all room categories available that same week (but they aren't convention center resorts).
