Many New DVC Rumours Direct From a Guide

As to all speculations on non-DVC sites...M&A is big on
Wall Wtreet right now. Don't be surprised if you hear that Disney 'partners' with an existing quality timeshare company.

What is "M&A" ?:confused3

Mergers & Acquisitions, guess someone else is a WSJ reader or CNBC watcher too.

Blackstone(private equity company that just went publlic) this week bought Hilton. The rest of the "hotel" sector stocks were up big on that news.

Disney "owns" the island but it is in Bahamaian territorial waters
I don't know whether Disney owns the island or leases it. However, Castaway Cay is part of the Bahamas, and therefore any timeshares there would be regulated (or not) by Bahamian law, not American law. That is not a deal-killer, but it's an issue.

I put "Owns" in parenthesis because I am uncertain as to perpetual true ownership by Disney or some sort of lease arrangement on CC but at any rate it is locked in for Disney only usage.

my opinion - Disney made a bad call on both. Now if HHI was on the ocean - it would have sold out. one of the cm there told me Disney had the land to build on the ocean - but they decided not too. Or even on a golf course - a lot of golfers love HHI. they didn't do either.

HHI is not near the ocean???

Depends on your definition of "near" IMHO a mile is not "near" unless I am getting a "discount" Since DVC at HH costs the same as buying a Marriott ON the beach...I don't think it's "Near enough" ;)

Disney says it's near!

It is near enought that i can ride my bike to it!

I love HH-DVC. I would like it ON the beach, but I do love the marshes.

VA did miss the boat on a Disney Theme Park! I was so POed. They ALSO missed the boat on a MLB baseball stadium. The concern is for the historical sites, but new developments are popping up everywhere anyway. They should entice Disney back and that way they can educate more people and bring them to those historical sites. There are tons in the Fredericksburg area alone.

A DVC in Hawaii would be nice. I'd go once in awhile, but the airfare is outrageous.

Getting back to OP's origianal post, What sort of big plans for Jim Lewis? Will he be the new Michael Eisner?

I could handle outrageous airfare - since I won't be buying OUTRAGEOUSLY priced theme park tickets!!

See...I think that off-site DVC's are a real selling point. I would pay top dollar to stay at a Disney resort with Disney CM's and service over something like Marriott anyday. I really don't get into the whole timeshare scene. I think DVC markets and sells to a lot of folks who wouldn't do other timeshares. I like the idea of HH because the process of making reservations is clear and easy...yet is is something DIFFERENT that WDW.

IMHO Disney hotel (and DVC) "service" does not measure up to the industry standards. When you compare 'service' and price points Disney comes up on the short end. It will be VERY interesting to see what impact the Four Seasons "timeshare" has on DVC. Four Seasons charges a PREMIUM,but they deliver.....

All this talk about "service" that I've seen here and elsewhere: that Disney service isn't up to "industry standards." Well, to me, the "premium" service that Four Seasons or Marriot delivers usually means that there's someone hanging around looking for a tip! I can't carry a bag, open a door, park my car, etc. etc. without someone there to "help." And that "help" always comes with an outstretched palm. Some would call that service; I call it intrusive, like I'm being shaken down. I never feel that way at Disney. I'll take their kind of service over "industry standards" any day!

Based on recent quarterly reports and what I hear on CNBC, I think Bob Iger has the job for as long as he wants it.
