Hi,

My DH and I are staying at POR and trying to decide which section to request for Sept. We have stayed at the Mansions once before and weret thinking of Alligator Bayou....we have heard a few people say that because of the trundle beds that it is an area with large families and may be loud etc. has anyone encountered this? How has your stays been? Which sections (either mansions or alligator bayou) would you recommend? Thanks so much!!!!

I stayed in Alligator Bayou in May and I was solo. I really liked it better that the mansions because the foliage is so lush in that area and the mansions landscape is manicured. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting the Bayou in September.

We stayed in AB in March of 2006 with two kids (3 and 1 at the time) and had a blast. We didn't lounge around the resort as much as we have in subsequent trips, but we thought the resort was great. There probably are more parties of 5 because of the trundle beds, but it certainly wasn't too noisy or active. Pop Century is much, much louder.

We are now DVC members so we don't stay there as much, but would certainly stay at POR again when we go on cash.

We stayed in AB at POR this past May. The one thing I continued to mention each night was how very quiet and peaceful the resort was. Noise was definitely not an issue and the grounds in AB are absolutely gorgeous. Have a great trip!

I have found it equally quiet at the Mansions and the Bayou. I did find that I got lost a lot trying to get to my room in the Bayou, because of all the curvy paths. I would try it out though. It is very peaceful.

I was there in February during President's Week (one word - busy), and the bayou was - one word - quiet.

It was just as quiet over there as it is at the Mansions.

I LOVE POR!!!!!

thanks for the info......I think we are still going to request AB. A few people scared us saying it would loud and crowded etc.....I mean that can happen at any resort...and since we stayed in the past at the Mansions it will be fun to try AB. ANyone have a favorite section they stay in?:wizard:

:thumbsup2 AB 14, 15, 16, 18 and 27 are all an easy walk to the food court...12,15,16 are very close to the main (and 1st) bus stop. We stayed there once in Feb. and it was very quiet. Very pretty.

Feb 2006 we were in a corner room in building 14...so close to the food court that we could smell the bacon every morning. The smell was so strong we actually wondered if they pumped it out!! ;)

I did not expect to enjoy AB, but loved it! Do prefer FQ for the quaintness, beautiful walkways and smallness of the resort, but very much liked AB - would stay again, but would not want to be in a building too far away.

We found the mansions to be more confusing than AB - the buildings were like a maze! Way too confusing for us! LOL

Have a great trip!

ETA:So true! Photos do not do AB justice. The rooms are much nicer in person and the resort so pretty - really feels like a million miles awy from everyday life. Rustic for those of us who do not want/like to camp, but do not really want to be truly rustic. Only thing is, probaboy would not stay for less than 4 nights ...for a quick trip would prefer an EPCOT resort - when it is in the budget, otherwise this would be a great choice.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We loved AB. The building are small & the landscape so lush you don't feel that you are in a big resort which is a big plus for me. We liked the quiet pool right around the corner as well as the main pool & the chance to swim at French Quarter as well.

I'm not thrilled wiith the inside of the AB rooms, but I did read here once that pictures don't do it justice! However, I DO like the lush landscape of the AB and that alone is what got me to request it on my reservation. It just looks so peaceful and relaxing! We have 5 people with one being a 2 yo, and I asked if we would automatically be put into AB and she said not necessarily. So, I hope we do!

We stayed in the Mansions section our first trip to POR and loved it. We all thought we wouldn't like Alligator Bayou. Like Princessbaby, I didn't like the pictures of the rooms at all. The next year, we got put in Alligator Bayou and LOVED it! Pictures DO NOT do these rooms justice. They are very nice. The lush landscaping, winding pathways, and little bridges going over teeny little water areas are a big reason why we love AB so much! We've never had a problem with loud guests. Last year I'm sure we got the building farthest away from the food court and we still loved it. I'll be disappointed the first time we request AB and DON'T get it. This is my favorite resort in WDW. I could live in Alligator Bayou :goodvibes .

WOW! Thanks fo the great info! We are really exicted to hopefully get AB this trip! We can't wait!!!!!!princess:

I love POR. I have stayed in AB 2 of the previous 3 Sept. It is a great time of year to be at POR! The lines aren't bad in the foodcourt, we were able to walk right into Boatwrights and eat with no line. Just a great time to go. I have read here how quiet it can be there. I agree, on our first trip staying at POR a hurricane Jeanne hit. I opened the door at 9am, looked outside, the winds were swirling, branches blowing through the air....needless to say, I closed the door quickly. I opened the door up an hour later and a tree had landed on the roof right above our door (we were on the second floor). We didn't even hear or feel a thing. I'd say it's a quiet resort if you can't hear a tree fall on top of your door.

Thank you all for the info.

DW, DisneyMagic73, and I are looking forward to a great trip.
Doesnt matter where we stay. I could sleep in a cardboard box as long as it is on Disney property and I get free dining. :thumbsup2

We only stayed in the Bayou once. Also, it was a million years ago so maybe things have changed. The Bayou section of POR (a million yrs ago it was Dixie Landings Resort) was the "buggiest" place I have ever seen:scared1: . We stayed at the resort after that stay but always on the Mansion side.

AB was beautiful!! We hope to try the Mansions in September...but I can tell you how much we (myself and the kids..dh did not go in March) LOVED this resort.

They want to stay there again and chose it over the Polynesian!!! :scared1:

I have to say it was so suprisingly lovely!! REALLY!! I would ask for bld 14 or 18 as suggested... a ground level room would be great....near everything.

VERY nice resort...
