My fill costs $20 and I usually tip $5 or so...but my nail guy owns his own shop.
He's so funny. I'm crazy about him! His native language is Vietnamese, and all the time I'm asking him what something is. He says "I don't know what it is in your language..." but I've eaten all sorts of new fruits, tried new foods, and learned about new products.
It's funny how egocentric Americans are. We think we have the best of everything, but it isn't always so.
He also gets tired of people asking him personal questions, so he makes up these WILD tales about having several kids with several different women and having wives in foreign countries....I sit there and laugh the whole time, and all these catty Southern Mississippi socialite women walk out with a fine manicure and the thoughts that they've seen how the other half live....
OK, sorry for the thread drift. $5. That's my final answer.
I know I am totally crazy but I give 20% of services plus and extra couple of dollars!!! They are good to me though and I always get last minute appmnts. FYI I also do the same for the girl that does my hair and she is very appreciative. I have a habit of tipping overboard, I have to watch that in the future since I don't think I am going back to work after having my baby!!!
Well, I hope I don't sound cheap, but I always tip $3 for a $15 fill. And the same for a pedicure unless I get an extra long massage I give $5. I thought 20% was adequate, I guess not Geesh!
