Mani/Pedi Question

One of my best girlfriends got me a gift certificate to a place I've never been to get a spa mani/pedi before I leave for the wedding. So, I'll have to do this on Thursday the 31st. We fly out of Detroit to FL on Friday the 1st and the wedding is Monday the 4th.

I planned on not getting fake nails, but now I'm wondering if I should, or do you think if I just have my natural nails done they will last through Monday?? Or should I go with acrylics??? Will acrylics last through Monday? (paint chipping is my concern...)

I'm not worried about he pedi, I know that will last.

What's everyone's experience with this???

My experience with acrylics is that my nails were scarred for 6 months after they came off  so I'm a natural nail person.

Can you get a light color (doesn't show chips as much) and then buy a bottle for touchups? I was worried about this, so I booked my mani at Perriwigs the day before our double wedding :cutie: You should come - we could get manicures and read trashy magazines and giggle like little girls!

The experience I had with acrylics for my senior prom wasn't a good one. My nails looked absolutely fabulous; the polish didn't chip for over a week. But, when they came off my nails were so damaged and it took a few months for them to grow out back to normal.

I heard good things about LCN/Gel-something nails. I know they're expensive but I heard they're a bit better for your nails. I'm going to try and take good care of my hands a few months before the wedding so maybe I can use my real nails. My nails are thin and break easily.

I'm a natural nail person too! I've done acrylics before, but yikes, they look fake (to me) and they are quite damaging!!

I was really hoping to go for a french manicure on my natural nails. But I guess I could go with a light color. Both my MOH and BM are really good and doing nails, so I guess they can touch me up (get your mind out of the gutter perverts!) the night before if need be.

What time is your appt?? I prolly gotta skip the invite to Perriwigs. :guilty: Sunday is our MK day with all of our guests. I have people who've never been to disney before coming and I really want to introduce them to the magic and finish the night before my wedding with Spectro and Wishes!!

try this stuff called nailtiques (sp??) You can get it at any drug store (walgreens, etc.) It does an amazing job of strengthening your nails to grow them. Better than any of that Sally Hanson hard nail stuff. put it on everyday, it dries really fast. After 4 or 5 days it'll start to peel, so take it all off and start again. I have a bottle and it works great!!!

Oh!! I've seen that at CVS (drug store) I'll have to give that a try!! Thanks for the tip!!! :goodvibes

From my experience, French manicure don't last. If you use the gift certificate and want the French manicure, I would definitely go with the acrylics. If you have them done the day before the wedding au naturale should be okay. Just don't go swimming or do any dishes until you get you pictures of your rings done.

i think you should try to get them re done when you arrive, a day or so before the wedding. my mani's never last. i used to have to get them done twice a week when i was in sales. i'm a natural nail girl too and i don't like fakes...

i just told mark that he's having a mani the day before the wedding whether he likes it or not. his hands must look good for our pictures. nuff said.

Spectro and Wishes?! Cool! You should totally not get a manicure with me (1pm - right in the middle of your day). :thumbsup2
