Has anyone here booked the Manhattan Club in NYC on points? Or have any of you tried to book it but there was no availability? I am trying to find out how likely I am to be able to get a reservation there. This is the first time we are going to try to book Concierge Collection so I don’t know what to expect.

I’ve done a little research and I know there is the $95.00 non-refundable transaction fee and I believe there is a $25.00 per night housekeeping fee. Are there any other hidden costs or anything else that I should be aware of? I have heard that there may be a 1 in 4 rule….meaning that once we book there, we can’t stay again for another 4 years using points. Is there anything that is not included for a points stay that a regular guest gets?

I tried a few years ago to get a few nights in early December prior to my employer's Christmas party that was in Morristown, NJ. Called daily for nearly 9 months and nothing ever opened up.

ETA: Back when I tried, it was still only available as part of the World Passport Collection (RCI).

Yes, we did it! Search for a thread on this board started 11/27. We booked 6 nights over Thanksgiving through DCV's Concierge Collection. There were no housekeeping charges or 1-in-4 rule through DVC.

We stayed there this past summer and had no problem booking and didn't have to pay anything beyond the $95 fee. We really enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for rip the responses. The link you gave is just what I'm looking for.....thanks.

It is much, much easier to book this location via DVC's Concierge Collection than through RCI! I had tried for many years using other timeshare through RCI and was so tickled when this was added to DVC's options last year. :thumbsup2

I had limited typing abilities last night as I was using a cell phone while in line to ToT at CA Adventure and later at Wine Country Trattoria. (We dropped in for a fun evening at the park!) A few more thoughts on booking via DCV Concierge vs RCI:
  • Fees: DVC collects the $95 reservation fee at the time of booking. All resort fees were explained by the DVC CM. We had no resort fees while on the property but would have been charged for valet parking if we brought a car.
  • Restrictions: The 1-in-4 rule applies to trading in through RCI, not our Concierge Collection.
  • You may book this 6 months from check-in.
  • Manhattan Club will phone you prior to arrival to offer assistance in arranging ground transportation, offer their concierge services, (etc), and to get you booked for a sales tour!

We loved it and hope you will, also!

The only other thing to be aware of is that the Manhattan Club will place a hold on your cc for incidentals during your stay. If you don't want to use the cc, they require a cash deposit. While lots of hotels have this policy, I thought the $300 hold that was put on our cc when we did the ABD NYC trip last year was excessive. We were only there four nights and there wasn't anything we could have gotten that would have been that much. I guess that's NYC.

You aren't required to do the sales tour, are you?

We are hoping to out to DLR in 2015 for our first visit! Hope you had a great day in DCA.

No -- not required but they will be pretty insistent on the phone (multiple phone calls)! We ended up accepting, prior to travel, to schedule the tour. We figured it might help us get a better room assignment. FWIW, we got a great room assignment and the tour was painless.

We stayed there those spring. Did the sales tour and it was 35 min and got $100 visa gift card. The room was great and location was awesome. Walked everywhere.

how many people does the 1 bedroom sleep? We have a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids)

I booked it through RCI - 18 points per night for a 1 bedroom

However this property rarely comes up on RCI - so you have to keep checking or do a waitlist.

Wait lists are only available for weekly exchanges and signature selections exchanges. If you are booking a nightly exchange, you just have to keep calling.

Booked TMC for May 25-30 this morning through the concierge collection. 125 points +$95 fee. Easy peasy.
