Monday 7th August ~ Day 5

We had a bit of a lie in today, so we didn’t get up till 8am. Me & Paul popped to the foodcourt to get breakfast and bring it back to the room, while the girls got ready. Paul dashed back to Wal-Mart to return the digital camera that he bought yesterday, and they changed it with no probs.

As ‘Mousekeeping’ arrived to do our room, me and the girls went to the arcade so that the girls could win some more crowns and wands as they were meeting up with their friends in the Magic Kingdom tonight.

When Paul got back, we piled into the car and headed to Blizzard Beach. Even just after 10am it was already very busy. But luckily we found a quiet area, and I got my book out to relax (I read ‘If you could see me now’ by Cecelia Ahern over this holiday, and I would thoroughly recommend it ~ it’s a wonderful book). Now we aren’t really a relax for hours by the pool kind of family, but we did go for a swim, float along the lazy river a couple of times and we did think about going on the family rafts, but it was a 45 minute wait and it was very hot.

We left around 1ish, had a quick McDonalds, got back to the Pop, had showers and then caught the bus to the Magic Kingdom.

We arrived around 3.30pm and the girls met their friends at 4pm outside Cinderella’s Castle. We arranged to meet up at 10.15pm after Wishes. The girls went off with their crowns and wands, and once again me & Paul were on our own. Now Magic Kingdom isn’t one of our favourite parks, and me & Paul were wondering what we were going to do for over 6 hours.

So first of all we went to get FP’s for Big Thunder Mountain, we rode Pirates of the Caribbean (and briefly saw the Pirate Tutorial, where we saw the Captain Jack Sparrow guy who was spookily like him), we then did the Jungle Cruise, which we have never done before and we had a very funny guide on it. We then went for a Pineapple Float (gorgeous) and back to BTM to use our FP’s and got FP’s for Splash Mountain. We had chicken dinner for tea at Cosmic Rays. We rode the TTA, saw Mickey’s Philharmagic, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain again, Pirates of the Caribbean again (as everyone was watching the parade, we had a boat to ourselves) and then Aladdin’s Magic Carpets ~ LOL.

The 6 hours flew by, we had a great time going on whatever ride we wanted, and we loved the Captain Jack Sparrow additions to the PotC ride. We also went in all the shops (I was ages in the Christmas shop looking for ideas for my Crimbo tree) and Paul decided that he wanted to collect all the Disney Bus pins that the CM’s had on their lanyards (apparently there was a set of 5 buses to collect, and by the end of the holiday he managed to get them all).

We sat near Adventureland and watched Wishes (very nice) and we had a brilliant evening. We met up with the girls at 10.15am, they’d had a fantastic time, and loads of CM’s and characters had made a fuss of them as they were wearing their crowns etc.

We said goodbye to their friends, and it was still busy, so we wandered over to Tomorrowland to get a frozen coke.

We got a coach back to the Pop around 11ish and were in bed around midnight.

We had all had a great day.

(sorry about lack of photos, we didn’t take a camera to Blizzard Beach, and my night time photos didn’t turn out very well at MK)

Bet it's lovely having a day to yourselves to do your own thing :sunny:

Another excellent day ~ Love the piccies 'Pirate' Mandy :goodvibes

Can't beleive you haven't done jungle cruise before Mandy, how wonderful that there are still undiscovered treasures even when you've been there heaps of times.
Great reports BTW - keep 'em coming.

Hi Mandy - just caught up on your reports. How wonderful to have time on your own - sounds like your DDs enjoyed their time on their own just as much

Look forward to the next installment

Oh! You've GOT to!!!

Love the shirt & the necklace & I think I see stitch on your shoulder bag!

You look like you shop like me...most of my closet, drawers and jewelry box have Mickey, Tigger or some form of Disney on them :faint:

Sounds like a great day. How nice to have a bit of couple time as well as family time. :thumbsup2

(I can also recommend 'If you could see me now' by Cecilia Ahearn. I have just finished it too and it's a magical book.)

Sara. :)

Hi Mandy,

Take Care and have fun

Mandy!
You are doing GREAT with the TR!...

Isnt it fun when you only have to worry about what you and DH want to do..and not have everyone wanting to go in different parts of the parks at once...

As Grandparents, we go to WDW with the DGKs one year and then do an "US ONLY" trip the next....Two totally different kinds of fun! :thumbsup2

Love the picture too!

Really enjoying your reports and photos ( hope you didn't take to many for your next quiz )

Great report. Love the picture.....but I think you need to get it switched from "16:9" to "4.3" ratio. :teeth:

It's a little show that is held several times a day next to the PotC ride. Captain Jack Sparrow and his shipmate Mack teach some of the little ones in the audience to do a little sword fight and we all had to sing 'Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me'. It's a really funny little sketch, but I don't know how long it will be on at the Magic Kingdom for :)
