Friday 18th June ~ High 90'sF

We were up early, so we packed our stuff up and checked out of the resort

The water taxi lines were very long, so we decided to walk to Universal. As we passed the Hard Rock Cafe, a huge line of people who had been waiting near the car park (which opened at 5.30am) began lining up outside the HRC

Islands of Adventure had once again opened at 8am to on-site guests, and only Marvel Land was open.

Instead of going on the rides, we joined an already long line for the Harry Potter Land opening. I can honestly say that if I had known what I was in for today, I would've turned right around and left, but as we had no idea how long the line was ahead of us, we thought that give it a couple of hours and we would be there

Well, the line weaved all around Marvel Land and into and around Toon Lagoon, then into Jurassic Park

It was such a hot day too, it was very uncomfortable, and it didn't help that we had the most obnoxious family in front of us, who would fall out with each other with just the wrong look

After a couple of hours, we realised that we were going nowhere fast. As we got towards Jurassic Park Paul went off to find some food, and we moved slowly in the line while eating our burgers and fries

As we finally reached the bridge near to Harry Potter Land, there seemed to be a lot of Universal staff looking flustered. I don't think they had anticipated the crowd for today, and suddenly the line moved a lot quicker and a lot more people were allowed over the bridge

5 1/2 hours we waited in that line. Like I said earlier if we had thought for one moment that we'd be standing in the baking sun for that length of time, then we would've just left. But no-one gave us any indication how long it would take till we were allowed in

Finally we set foot into Harry Potter Land. Now I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and I was thrilled to see it, but there was no way on this earth that I was going to stand in any more lines for a ride. All we really wanted was to take some photos, have a wander around and of course try a Butterbeer

Aside from the crowds, Harry Potter Land was amazing. I was so excited to see the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts Castle and the little shops (which all had huge lines to get in)

We did get to try a Butterbeer, which was pretty gross (lol), it was very sweet like a flat Coke, but we loved our Butterbeer moustaches

We left an hour or so later and headed back to the Pop to start the dreaded packing :(

We then got showered and changed for our final evening in Epcot

We lined up at my fave bus stop, and caught my fave bus to my fave park

We caught the bus back to the Pop and collapsed in bed .. it had been a long, tiring but great day

Tomorrow ~ Heading home :(

Well done for waiting in line for 5 and a half hours, at least you can always say you were there on opening day. I can't wait to visit in September.

Fantastic day, wwohp looks amazing, i cant wait to see it. Hope the queues have gone down a bit though

Wow 5 1/2 hours!! I hope the hype has died down by November.
Great update as always - great pics of Illuminations!

5.5 hours  But, by the looks of opening day I was thankful for you that you'd stayed on-site, I believe many more people queued longer than that!

Great day Mandy, looks like you both had a fantastic time!

It looks amazing Mand, five and a half hours well done to you, I am taking you to Glasto next year, you are well practiced for it x

I believe that there was another 5 hour wait behind us Rachel :faint:

No chance missus, at least IOA has real toilets ;):rotfl2:

I wasn't able to close my mouth again after I read "five and a half hours" :scared1::scared1: Well done though :thumbsup2

Gotta love the moustaches!

Fantastic pics as usual :)

Wow can't believe how long you guys queued I can't wait to try butter beer !

You have a favourite bus stop??

I was really blown away by some of your WWoHP pics. It was so strange to see buildings covered in snow, against the back drop of a dark sky - with people in shorts and t-shirts wandering by (ooo - that rhymes :rolleyes1)

Some great firework pics too - I wish I could do that

5.5 hours!!! :scared1: Sounds like Universal have seriously underestimated how popular this would be - like you said, it would have been nice to have an idea of how long the wait was (ie 5 hours from here!).

You do the same as us on our last night - we wouldn't go anywhere else but to Epcot to watch Illuminations

:scared1: Five and a half hours! I don't think I'd be able to do that.

Great pics of IllumiNations. :thumbsup2

This reminds me of those new McDonald's adverts! :rotfl:

Wow 5 1/2 hours but you will aways remember being there on opening day. WWOHP looks great.

Sounds like your last night in Epcot was a great finish and both with lovely tans too.:goodvibes

Great report mandy.
I can't wait to do HP in October. Hope the queues are shorter by then.:)
