Friday 18th June ~ High 90'sF
We were up early, so we packed our stuff up and checked out of the resort
The water taxi lines were very long, so we decided to walk to Universal. As we passed the Hard Rock Cafe, a huge line of people who had been waiting near the car park (which opened at 5.30am) began lining up outside the HRC
Islands of Adventure had once again opened at 8am to on-site guests, and only Marvel Land was open.
Instead of going on the rides, we joined an already long line for the Harry Potter Land opening. I can honestly say that if I had known what I was in for today, I would've turned right around and left, but as we had no idea how long the line was ahead of us, we thought that give it a couple of hours and we would be there
Well, the line weaved all around Marvel Land and into and around Toon Lagoon, then into Jurassic Park
It was such a hot day too, it was very uncomfortable, and it didn't help that we had the most obnoxious family in front of us, who would fall out with each other with just the wrong look
After a couple of hours, we realised that we were going nowhere fast. As we got towards Jurassic Park Paul went off to find some food, and we moved slowly in the line while eating our burgers and fries
As we finally reached the bridge near to Harry Potter Land, there seemed to be a lot of Universal staff looking flustered. I don't think they had anticipated the crowd for today, and suddenly the line moved a lot quicker and a lot more people were allowed over the bridge
5 1/2 hours we waited in that line. Like I said earlier if we had thought for one moment that we'd be standing in the baking sun for that length of time, then we would've just left. But no-one gave us any indication how long it would take till we were allowed in
Finally we set foot into Harry Potter Land. Now I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and I was thrilled to see it, but there was no way on this earth that I was going to stand in any more lines for a ride. All we really wanted was to take some photos, have a wander around and of course try a Butterbeer
Aside from the crowds, Harry Potter Land was amazing. I was so excited to see the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts Castle and the little shops (which all had huge lines to get in)
We did get to try a Butterbeer, which was pretty gross (lol), it was very sweet like a flat Coke, but we loved our Butterbeer moustaches
