1.) How could Boba Fett have returned when he was killed off in the Sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi? Did I miss something? I haven't seen the final episode yet so I don't know if it is mentioned then or if I missed something.
2.) How could the face scan have worked in the next to last episode when the Mandalorian was not part of the empire?

Okay, is The Book of Boba Fett replacing the Mandalorian as a series? It seemed to come to a conclusion. It will be interesting if we find out how Luke Skywalker's appearance in the final episode fits into all of this.

There were previous official Lucasfilm stories (part of what's now considered "Legends" and not the official canon) that Boba Fett managed to blast his way out of the sarlacc. While it's no longer the official backstory, the general idea is that he escaped. And they'll expand on that in the new Book of Boba Fett series.

Hey, Bill. I'll paly your resident Star Wars expert today.

One thing to remember about the Sarlacc is that you are digested alive slowly over the course of many years (thousands if you would live that long). So, while Boba had to deal with the stomach acid and who knows what else in there, a guy like him can probably figure a way out. He did still have his armor and such. There were old stories as bcla mentioned that details this, but they are not necessarily canon anymore. It is safe to assume though that something happened.

As far as I undersand it, the face scan wasn't to access the terminal, the codes on the cylinder that he inserted did that. I believe the scan is so that they can see who used the codes and what they accessed - like an ATM has a camera, but you use your card and PIN to actually access your accounts. It's a secondary security system. Also, it was necessary for the plot - ;)

Also, there were thoughts that this was the case, Mandalorain Season 3 is still coming, just a little later as Book of Boba Fett will come first.

Thanks for the input! I know there was a comic that showed Boba Fett escaping, but like the Star Trek book and cominc series (there was even a Star GTrek on the PLanet of the Apes series of comics!), they aren't really considered part of the true storyline.
Now I wonder about Luke showing up at the end of the Mandalorian....hmmmm.

For Star Wars, the new books and comics (post Dinsey purcahse) are all considered canon. There have been only a few minor contradictions so far. Like witht the old EU, on-screen information will always take precedent, but they are trying to keep it all in line. They have not covered Boba Fett's escape in new-canon, however, while the old EU stories are now considred "Legends," some of that stuff has been picked up in the new-canon, so the way I see it, if it hasn't been contradicted yet, then it still stands for the most part - at least the broadstrokes.
