Managed our first ever 7 month switch :-)

This may not sound like a big deal, but it is for us haha! We booked our home resort of OKW at 11 months out and just switched it to Kidani today, dead on the 7 month mark
I would have been happy to stay with OKW, but our first week is going to be a non park week, and Kidani seemed like the best place to spend it.
So, our first ever DVC stay will be at Kidani, so excited!!!!!!
Now we just have to wait for our next 7 month window to book the last part of our trip......considering the Poly

Curious to know did you use the two browser hold and cancel method, or did you just cancel OKW and roll the dice on Kidani availability? Or maybe you are lucky enough to have lots of points and could book both at the same time

I booked Kidani yesterday, looks like we'll be there the same time. No need to book and switch Kidani for end of July though, loads of availability on 7 months at that time of year.

I booked Kidani yesterday, looks like we'll be there the same time. No need to book and switch Kidani for end of July though, loads of availability on 7 months at that time of year.

So I believe, didn't want to take the chance though hehe.

Ah very clever, enlisting a second person to help! I have been afraid to try the 2 browser method, glad to know it worked for you! I might have to give it a go next time I want to switch, I rolled the dice last time and dropped our 2 bed OKW to get a 2 bed BWV boardwalk view and it worked out fine but would have been nice to be able to know I could get the BWV ressie without losing the first one.

My husband was having a bit of a meltdown as we couldn’t get it to accept our phone number (were in the UK). After calming him down, it worked fine though. Although it did help that I new AKL had plenty of availability. It’d have been worse if it was a tricky to get reservation though.
We’ll be doing it all again in a few weeks when we book our final week.....just got to decide which resort to pick now!

Basically my husband was on the laptop and I was on my iPad. I went as far as selecting the resort, number of nights etc, and he went as far as pressing the cancel button. As soon as he pressed cancel, I pressed book, simple as that

I am glad you got what you wanted and understand your anxiety about potentially not having a reservation on the exact dates you want. However, for reservations in July/August at both OKW & AKV-K, it seems like there is usually very good availability (someone can correct me if I am wrong), so you could have been spared the pain of "switching" at 7 months.

I will be attempting my first ever 7 month switch too...for an October trip....in a studio! Fortunately, I have enough points that I can keep my current reservation(s) while trying to make the new one. Honestly, it's a win-win situation...if I can switch, we get to try out a new resort, either CCV or BRV, or a split between the two, but we will only get to stay for 6 nights. If I can't switch, we will be "stuck" staying a full week at our beautiful home resort of AKV in a studio at Jambo House. I think the girls actually want to split between CCV/BRV AND AKV...so I actually might try to stay the first 4 at AKV and switch the last three at either BRV or CCV. The tough choice now will be which one?? CCV or BRV??? It will probably come down to what is available.

No, not really. Anyone with a faster finger could get your new villa instead of you and even your cancelled villa.

You will love the Poly!!!! Monorail to MK and a quick walk to TTC to Epcot! Plus the DVC pool is so amazing!!
