There is a local bakery here that I absolutly LOVE going to about once a month. It's a really small one, and if you blink while driving on the road you'd miss it. However, they have some of the most heavenly goodies imaginable.

I stopped off after going to the Post Office, and I picked up some of my faves including:

an ADULT version of tira misu (soaked in some kindof liquor :drinking1 )
a mini carrot cake
two big cinnimon twists for my dh
two little sugar cookies for ds3
and my all time personal fave which are little mini tropical cheesecakes... mmmmmmmm.... :thumbsup2

The owners are very nice and even threw in some maple fritter donuts for free. :cloud9:

Does anyone else have a fave bakery?

Yum, care to share the tiramisu and carrot cake with me???
I don't have a favorite bakery, but I like Japanese pasteries.

I wish I could!! You could try some of the tropical cheese cake puffs with me.

They take puff pastry shells and fill it with this cheese cake mixture that has pineapple, coconut, and passion fruit, and then they top it off with creamcheese fluff frosting...

I also love the plaque they have on the wall:

"My doctor said I should lay off the sweets, so I went to my baker for a second opinion. " :teeth:

Yum! I want some!

We don't have independent bakeries in my small town, but Wal-Mart (surprisingly) has a fantastic french bread they cook up. I just wish they did sourdough, which is my fav.

There's a great little bakery in our town (technically my address is in the next town over, but I share a phone prefix with the bakery). Every once in a while when we are downtown the boys get a giant chocolate covered donut and I get one of their speciality date bars. They also have great bread.

You're killing me! There used to be a bakery near my old house that had the most wonderful little tea cakes that I've not found anywhere else. The bakery changed names/management several times, but always had these little cakes. A few years ago they went out of business for good and somehow these little cakes died with them. It's sooooo disappointing.

I used to have a great bakery, but it closed due to high rents.
Now all we have in town are Filipino bakeries. Not my cup of tea..the cakes are all spongey and tehy don;t have what I am used to seeing in a bakery.

There is still a good bakery a few miles away..anyone from northern Bergen County would probably know it. B&W..famous for their crumbcake(which I personally do not like but DH LOVES!

Most of the time I go to my Stop&Shop, they actually have a great bakery, but it's not the same as the little local bake shop. :guilty:

The next town over has German John's Bakery.
Yes, John is German :goodvibes
They specialize is a vast array of breads. Their Landbrot & bierbrot we love! Nice hot pretzels, both plain & flavored. Great cookies, too!
the desserts do not have as much sugar in them as we are used to getting & we've grown to prefer John's German style pastries.
Each Christmas we get a full 1/2 sheet size of bienenstich, a wonderful yeast cake, split in two filled with a delicious vanilla cream & topped with honeyed, blanched slivered almonds--just too good!
DH's aunt is Austrian & she loves John's pastries. You never know how many Germans are around here until you visit the bakery on a Saturday morning! They will travel from maine, Massachusetts & Rhode Island

Oh, I can relate! One of my students parents own a Mexican Panderia (bakery) and I have been in there the last 2 days and have to go tomorrow to pick up DS birthday cake! The have the best treats and I always thought the Mexican Bakery items tend to be less sugary. Everything is so yummy!

The best part is my student's mom brings in snack 1xweek from the bakery! Too bad I started back on Weight Watchers and can't eat is anymore. At least I can watch my students and family enjoy!

Well not exactly a bakery but the French Laundry in Fenton has the best home made pies and salads. Susan
