Man guilty of groping Minnie Mouse at Disney

A damn shame. People have no sense some times. You have to wonder if the guy was drunk as well. Keep your hands to yourself pal.........:sad2:

I'm sorry but "if your getting the ***** beat out of you" she says you cant come out of carecter? what! It time for the gloves to come off at that point. Every one should have the right to defend thimselfs.

oh, so the character attendant didn't see anything? that person should be fired or the girl is full of crap.

So if a maniac stars stabbing you while in costume you just quietly wave the distress signal??? I hope if this guy really did this he gets the book thrown at him, to do somthng like that, in front of his grandkids I presume, is sick. There is just somthing fishy about this to me... the fact that she didn't say anything. If she really would have been fired for talking because she was meing molested then Disney should be ashmed. It will be intrtesting to hear what the guy has to say and also to see how much Disney comes to bat for this girl. I have a feeling Disney would want to sweep this under the rug, this could open up a whole can of worms about; "If I got the crap beat out of me, I have to go along and say nothing ever happened. That's part of the Disney integrity. We have to." Dosen't sound like integrety to me???:sad2:

I think many friends of characters take their roles very seriously. And they need to seeing that one wrong slip will show up on the internet and the news. (Case in point, the infamous Tigger situation not that long ago.)
I can see the attendant not know at that time something was going on. I doubt what happened went on for a prolonged time. And pretty much anyone with a cast bubble badge on are constantly attending guests. Quite often the attendant is down a line of people to either inform or control the line. Not to mention answering questions and general guest interaction.
I can't count how many times I have asked a character attendant to trade pins with me. That is distracting. And I am sure they are constantly distracted.
Some characters are what I would consider petite in stature, and their head is the main thing one would notice. It may be difficult to even see them full body in a crowded, confined area. :confused3
I am also sure the character was pretty shocked when it initially happened. I know most would just be stunned and in disbelief at first. Although one would think they are trained for such occurrences. Which is where the not coming out of character would come in. After awhile it would just be second nature.
People do funny things when they are on vacation. Things they may not usually do. Part of a mob/show off mentality maybe. :confused3
Not to say anyone did or did not do anything. That is for the court to decide once they hear what is presented.

Adding I just started reading the article. And he was convicted. Well, there ya go...

so why have a character attendant if they aren't going to attend the character?? why call it a character attendant if they aren't going to attend the characters???

i still think the lady is full crap.

For those who think she's lying, I've got to ask, why do you think she'd lie about that? Did she just wake up one morning and say, "I'm going to accuse a random stranger at work today of sexual assault." And if so, why do you suppose she picked this particular guy? See how ridiculous that sounds!

If you watched the video of her testifying in court, you can see how upset she was.

hmm, characters go through auditons...they get hired because they can act.
she hasn't given proof other than what she said. you have a limited time with each character...photopass has to take pictures quick so they can move on to the next guest. Character Attendants are hired to witness these things. More than ONE person is in that room at a time. No one saw it???? Seriously?? Mickey didn't see it????

suing for money...fame? pretty sure I could pull that off too. to be convicted, you need proof. there was no proof. no witnesses...just herself.

I'm not saying I think that she is lying but why would anyone find it so hard to believe that someone would make a false accusation like this? People have before for many reasons, for personal gain, out of spite, mental illness... the list could go on. No I do not think she is making the whole story up but it does sound fishy to me, somthing about the whole thing just dosen't sit well with me...

I thought I read somewhere that the photopass photog got pics of the incident? :confused3

Very often Character attendants have to attend more than one character. They are also given pin trading lanyards, and are asked to interact with guests standing in line. They cant see everything. The man had his day in court, and was innocent until proven guilty.

They only character in the room was minnie mouse. Mickey wasn't there, donald it was just minnie. I think she is telling the truth. They said the photos proved it. I believe her

Obviously the photos and testimony proved something to a jury of his peers.

No ... they get hired because they can move. Because they can animate. Unless they are auditioning for a face character role (which Minnie is not), there is no acting involved. You don't have to LOOK happy when you're in costume because the fact of the costume already is happy. Characters do not have to act at anywhere near the level that someone would have to act to falsely accuse someone and lie on the stand.

Even if Mickey were in the room, it's likely he wouldn't have seen it. Clearly you've never worn a character costume -- it's not like you have a full range of sight. Stuff can be happening right next to you and you won't see it unless you turn your head in that direction. And Disney is one of those places where incidents like this are few and far between. So it's not like people are keeping out a trained, focused and watchful eye for guys who like to grab. They worry about kids who try to pull off noses or kick chipmunks, but they trust adults to behave like adults.

Fame? Really? How famous do you think someone is going to get being "the Minnie that someone groped"? And really ... if you're going to sue someone for money, a random WDW guest probably isn't your best target.

Why are you so adamant that this couldn't possibly have happened?
