Mama Melrose Rumor

I was reading the 2006 Birnbaum Dining book. It mentioned that MM may be re-named and re-themed in 2006. I hope not we love it! I had ADRs for Dec. nothing was mentioned when I made them. Has anyone heard this?

Haven't heard of it. By the way, we had a birthday party for 20 people at MM last year that the staff muffed terribly: wrong orders, cold food, late food, bill calculated wrong. To my mind it could use spiffing up -- and some staff retraining.

Yea, someone posted this rumor a short time ago. We were at MM's this past May, and ate there, as we always do. I asked the CM at the podium as well as our server, and they both told us that they have not been told, as of May 15th, {when we were there} anything about a change in the restaurant. Anybody else out there hear anything different?

I've heard this one too. The rumor I heard was that the restaurant was going to get a Toy Story or another Pixar related theme.

I read somewhere that MM was originally planned to be a Muppet themed restaurant with special effects and such but the plans were shelved after Jim Henson's death and issues with the Henson family. Now that Disney owns the Muppets the idea has been dusted off and that is what the change will be. ???

I don't know if I buy the Pixar themeing, but something new is not a horrible idea. I have been here a number of times, and would like to see something new, as long as the food stays edible

We like the food hope that remains but i have no problem with rethemeing just not another Pixar theme. IMO they are going over board since buying them with using there movies as themes.

I think Mama Melrose is one of the better italian restaurants on property really, I would be sad to see it go. Just as long something mediocre doesn't go in I don't mind... and NO pixar stuff...

I hope they don't change it. We love Mama Melrose's and have always had a stellar experience. My only complaint (and it's very minor) is that the music loop is only 1 hour long - the last several times we've dined there, our meal has been 90 minutes to 2 hours long...

The Muppet themed restaurant could be called "The Swedish Chef's"

Frog's Legs and Pork should definitely NOT be on the menu...and Gonzo would not be happy if they served Chicken.
