Hi! My fiance and I are getting married at the most magical place in the world in November. We are considering doing the fantasmic dinner package one night. However, I cannot decide between Mama Melrose or Brown Derby. Suggestions please. And timing? What time is best to eat in order to get our "fantasmic seating" early enough to be "fantasmic"? Any ideas would be G-R-E-A-T!!! :cheer2: :grouphug:

I have eaten at the Brown Derby and Hollywood & Vine, but not Mama Melrose. I think the food is very good at the Brown Derby, but if you are on the dining plan, it is not worth 2 table service credits. I would pay. It is romantic inside. When you make your ressie, make sure you tell them you just got married. They will treat you like a King & Queen. The only advantage of the Fantasmic Package is that you do not have to wait inline for seats, but the seat you do get are all the way to the right of the theatre. I thought they were fine, especially since I did not wait for an hour or more.

Times: Usually they only give reservations upto 4:00pm for the package. They sometimes release additional times when all of the times are filled & that can be at anytime, even the week before (just keep calling). One time, I was able to get 5:00.

I hope this helps. Congratulations are your marriage.

If you are on the dining plan and are limiting your budget to that, I'd go with Mama Melrose for 1 TS credit. If you don't mind paying out of pocket, I'd go with HBD. Better food IMO but def. not worth 2 TS credits. For the price you'd be wasting a day's worth of credits.

I prefer Mama Melrose. The first time, I had a pasta dish that was very good and the next time I had steak that was good. At HBD, I did not find that many appealing choices for my taste. I ended up with sesame crusted seared tuna and I thought it was just ok. HBD has been our most expensive meal at WDW ever. It was about $75 for the 2 of us. We are not in a hurry to return.

Honesty, I love them both. Maybe think of it in terms of ambiance? If you're going for romantic, then try Brown Derby. If that doesn't matter, then go to the other because the food really is better at MM.

I am a foodie and enjoy mostly signature dining when I'm down there, but I have to say that the food at Mama Melrose is fantastic. One of my very favorite places for lunch.

We have not eaten at the HBD but we ate at Mama Melrose's this past trip. The place was very nice but the food was just so-so. If I had to do it again, I would probably do the Derby. (I did Mama Melrose because my DW loves pasta.)
