Mama Melrose for Fantasmic?

I was wondering if anyone has done the Fantasmic dinner package and what you think of it? I got an ADR for the Brown Derby Fantasmic package for our last night of our stay at WDW. I was having second thoughts about the cost (2 TS meals from dining plan) and tried to change to Mama Melrose but it is booked except for 4:20pm. So do I switch and do the WAY early dinner or just stay with the Derby? I'd appreciate any thoughts!

We prefer Mama Melrose and we have done it at 4:20. We have done it twice and are going to do it again in May. I did the Brown Derby once before the DDP and it was a special Fantasmic Package too but it still cost $100.00 with the tip. The food is good but we really like Italian and it is good. I really don't think you will be disappointed.

WE had a bad experience with mama melroses and the fantasmic plan. Service very slow and poor. Food cold when arrived. Would not go back again.

We've had two great experiences & therefore love Mama Melroses!! We've also done the Brown Derby & have to say it's not our favorite place. The Fantasmic package is great since you get "reserved" seating...granted not all seating is great, but at least you don't have to stand!! I would take the 420 at Mama's..sure it's early, but that way 1) you know you won't be late for the show & 2) if you like Italian, you'll (hopefully) have a great meal!

I would highly recommend Mama Melrose and think it is a STEAL at 1 credit on the dining plan. We had an outstanding meal there last year, loved all courses and every one of us loved our meals. The priority seating for Fantasmic was wonderful too, especially with two young children. We've already made ADR's for this year too.

Another vote for MM. We love this place! A little OT, but my BiL saw on another message board that they are planning to close MM and replace it with a Monster's Inc. themed restaurant. Anybody else heard this? I haven't seen anything about it, but I haven't been here too much lately....if anyone knows anything, please reply! Thanks!

Another vote for Mama Melrose here!!! We loved it both times we did the package there. The food was awesome. It was my picky DS6's favorite meal.

We go to MM every time we go to MGM as well as for Fantasmic. Great food and service. They have great soup and salad for lunch too. Enjoy!

Didn't like MM so went to H&V pkg. The food was really OK for a buffet. Everyone (even the picky eaters) had enough with the variety of food there to eat...

We just got back from Disney and ate at MM on Sunday. We would NOT go back. It was HORRIBLE! The steaks were BURNED, not charred BURNED and we ordered them medium. I had the Eggplant and got 3 tiny little fried eggplants with spaghetti with one teaspoon of sauce. It was HORRIBLE! Our waitress was non existant. She disappeared, never brought us bread, never refilled our drinks, nothing. We felt like we wasted our credits. It was just horrible. We won't be back.

We were so pleasantly surprised at our MM expierence with the Fantasmic dinner package. After reading the disboards for so long I never heard things really either way on MM. We made reservations because we didn't want to do Brown Derby (2 TS's). We loved our dinner and the service.

We had reservations to eat at Sci-Fi for lunch one afternoon and they had sewer problems so we were offered a table at Brown Derby and were told we only had to use 1 TS. We jumped on it and were VERY disappointed with the service. The food was good, but man, the server was RUDE!

We had a similar experience at MM in December, and won't be going back.

We went in October and it was horrid. Dh isnt pickey and he said he would never go back there. EVER. At first I booked not using the Fantasmic Package but then they switched the policy and I could use the dining plan and so I rebooked. The menu changed because I was on the dining plan and the choices were nearly nothing.
Extrememly disappointing. It was the worst meal of the entire trip. Earl of Sandwhich runs a very close second.

I can say our waiter was very good but I still will never go back.
