Yes - all discrimination is evil...
That is pretty funny.
It's the argument my 9yo will sometimes use when she tries to get out of doing her chores.

It doesn't fly.

Obtuse is not a name, it is a communication style. Look it up.You're really saying that the "suffering" of these teenagers is the SAME THING as racial discrimination??? And you have the audacity to call those who disagree with you names??
Good grief....
Obtuse is not a name, it is a communication style. Look it up.
The severity of "suffering" does not determine whether or not discrimination is taking place. Look it up.
Like I have already said, you people are welcome to your own opinions, but not your own facts...

golfgal;35405598]But does she only have to go to the mall from 4-9 on Friday night and Saturday night? She can go by herself ANY OTHER TIME, except for these 10 hours/week.

Where do you all suggest that teens DO hang out? Not (necessarily) being snarky, I really am wondering (looking for suggestions, in fact.)
The courts have found the issue to be the same. It is illegal to discriminate based on age in America. Maybe you should brush up on the Constitution...
You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts...
Minors are discriminated upon regularly and legally.
Funny how Mall of America has had this policy for 14 years.![]()

I agree with DisneyBamaFan that this is discriminatory and there are other ways to address loiterers at the mall, regardless of age.

1. - I work full-time so it is rare that she will talk me into going to any store when I finally get home at night. That leaves weekends.
2. - Since I work full-time during the week I am running errands, cleaning house, making time for my elderly DM and DMIL, etc. on the weekends. All of those things are a priority for me rather than hitting the mall.
3. She doesn't get off the bus until 3:30 unless she stays after school in which case she gets home no earlier than 7:00 when the late bus comes around. So even if I were around to drive her to the mall this does severely cut down her available hours to shop to far less than 100 hours. In fact, once a week she has volleyball practice from 6-8. Usually she just stays after and goes to practice and we pick her up when it's over. On those nights she doesn't get home until 9.
If we don't make it to the mall until late afternoon on a weekend then so be it. As I have said, if the malls around here were to have a problem with that we would just stop shopping there period. There are other alternatives out there. If they don't want our business.......

But it isn't discriminatory for a private business to restrict access to unaccompanied minors.
I would say if she is old enough to go to the mall by herself on a Friday or Saturday night, then she is old enough to ease some of your weekend burdens so that she might get her shopping privileges in the daytime.
Inconvenience is not a characteristic of discrimination.
Why are we assuming that they haven't?
I hope you will someday find others to communicate with that are more your intellectual speed so that you can stop wasting your valuable brain on an internet board with people who are so inferior to you. Have a Magical Day!!!
It isn't even discriminatory for a private business to restrict access to ADULTS. The key word is PRIVATE. Let's take this into the ridiculous, minors can't go into bars and strip clubs either--is that discriminatory too???
Thanks - I know where not to look...![]()
That's correct - it is legal, but it is also discriminatory, just legal discrimination. To use a current example, consider Augusta. It is one of the most prestigious country clubs in America, and it hosts the Masters golf tournament every spring. Black members are not allowed. It isn't even discriminatory for a private business to restrict access to ADULTS. The key word is PRIVATE.
