Malicious Advertisements/Redirects

To support the Dis, I disable my ad blocker (uBlock Origin) while browsing the boards. However, for the past several days, there have been a notable number of malicious redirects originating from the advertisements. An example of one of these redirects is to "goodluckdog.space", a blacklisted domain.

To circumvent, I re-enabled the ad blocker. Even with my ad blocker enabled, I'm still unable to browse the boards at times, as my DNS points to OpenDNS, which is also blocking connection to these malicious domains (as it should be). The issue seems to be especially prevalent while browsing on my mobile phone.

When I raised a similar issue to the admins I was told to clear my cache and cookies. They know of the issue, but it seems to only affect a few people (including me).

Its been happening to me too.. for a while now. At first it just kept going to a Spectrum page but now its scarier stuff. It only happens randomly and if I hit the back button it takes me back to the boards. I can continue. It only seems to happen on my cell phone though. I havent noticed it on my laptop. I have an Android, if that helps.

Telling users to clear their cache and cookies is the laziest possible approach by the admins. Instead, they should find out how malicious redirects are taking over their pages and fix the problem.

I've cleared my cache and cookies, and I'm still getting the redirects. Just happened less than a minute ago...redirected to McAfee.

I use adblock and I turned off signatures and I don't get any redirects. If I use my phone where I don't have adblock, I do get redirects, although I haven't checked recently.

To be honest, when it comes to cyber security, you're not going to stop malicious attempts from occuring. It doesn't matter what kind of security or encryption the web developers for The Dis have in place, or any website for that matter. Something is going to break it, and you will have malicious attempts on you, or someone else. It's not the fault of The Dis. As an IT engineer, I know this endless ongoing battle with cyber security. That's why, it's always best practice to update your OS, your PC security software (whatever product you use), and be smart about what you do on the internet. (I'm not griping from any point of view or anything, just explaining how it's nearly impossible to stop these malicious attempts)
