Making reservations

I have been a member for about 16 months with a use year of October 1st and 200 points. I want to make a reservation for December 17th - 23rd which will be about 250 points.

When I call the end of January, will I be borrowing 50 points from next year to add to my 200 current points OR carrying over this year's 200 points to next year?

Also, if I make my January reservation at SSR, how does it work at 7 months to try for BCV (where my brother and his family will be staying)? Do I cancel the SSR reservation AFTER I make sure BCV is available?

It depends.....did you bank your 06UY points or are they gone? If you have no 06 points then your 07 UY begins in OCT, so you would have to borrow 50 points. If you banked your 200 06 points then you need only 50 07 points leaving you with 150 points to bank into 08UY.

Make your reservation at the 11 month mark at SSR...than when the 7 month mark comes around you can call for availability at BCV. If there isn't any you can get on a waitlist for your week. I beleive to book day by day you would need the points to do that.

For my use year that started 10/1/06, I still have 200 points. Haven't done anything with them; that's why I was asking about the procedure. I guess I will be making my reservation early enough that I can do what DVC tells me. I wasn't sure which year I would be in as I would be making my reservation in one use year and taking my vacation in the next year.

OK, since you have 200 points you received Oct 2006, they need to be used by the end of Sept 2007. December 2007 falls in to your Oct 2007 use year. If you want to use those 200 points from Oct 2006 for that reservation you will need to bank them to the October 2007 use year prior to making your reservation.
