Is it possible at a slow WDW time(November) to call a restaurant that day for evening reservations? Have you done this?

I called for a PS at Jiko the morning we wanted to eat there. This was in May. Some of the times were filled, but I was able to get an 8:30 pm PS.

I think if your flexible on time and aren't going to the most popular restaurants, it shouldn't be a problem. Now California Grill at MK fireworks time would probably not work.:D

In a slow time like November, provided it is not over Thanksgiving week it should work. We have gotten same day PS for San Angel Inn and Liberty Tree Tavern for almost the exact time we wanted in December. However, I suggest you be a bit flexible with time and you should get it...

We go the week after President's Week and have never had trouble making a PS for when we want it or where we want it. WE made on on about an hours notice at 8:30pm for YSH no problem.

In January that is what we do most of the time. Sometimes we call the night before, sometimes the morning of and often we just show up when we want to eat. We do make a PS at the max. days out for any must do charcter meals and HDDR.

Depends completely on the restaurant and how flexible you are on the time.

If you want something specific, make PS. Even if it isn't the most popular restaurant in the World - who knows, the stars could align.

If you are willing to be flexible, try new things, or eat at off times, you certainly won't starve.

But yes, we've done it. With varying degrees of success. Our President's Week was not nearly as successful as Eeyore2Us (we got 2 out of 4 short notice PSs), but we were traveling with two small kids and needed to eat on a schedule.

We've did this several times in July 2001 and April and May, 2002 and were always able to get within 20-30 minutes of our requested time. Some of the restaurants were Boma's, Cape May Cafe, San Angel Inn at Mexico, and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Thanks!
I'm trying to keep my promise(to DH) of no pre-made PS's ...just "go with the flow" this trip. We'll see how it works.;)

Yes, you just have to be flexible, and have an alternative, in case you 1st choice is booked. We don't do it often, but have had good luck making last minute PS for Hollywood and Vine in MGM and just getting seated as a walk up at Tempura Kiku.

Good luck!

Did Fantasmic H & V that morning. Did the 3:15 pm Epcot Sundae character event at 2:00 pm from up by test track phones. Did Prime Time from the phone by ToT and walked straight over.

These were in July. Now granted not every attempt would have been that lucky but we did great!

We were there the first week of Nov. 2000. We could pretty much eat where we wanted and make the PS that day. The only exception is that we had made PS for Le Cellier from home for the Saturday night we were there. Our PS was for 6:30 and we arrived around 6. Walk-ups were being told that there would be no tables available, they were booked solid for the rest of the night. Now some of the PS could have been made earlier that day.

My advice would be if you don't want to do it from home, call early in the day, especially for weekend nights at Epcot! It's so easy to call from your hotel room. This way you aren't disapointed.

We never make PS in advance. Just returned last month from a 2 week trip to WDW and made all our dinner ressies when we got there, some a couple of days in advance, some the morning of the day and some just walk-ups. We went everywhere we wanted, no problems at all. I don't think you will have any problems in November unless you want to eat at the castle (breakfast), and even then we have made those a few days in advance in the past.

ENJOY!!!
