okay since we live in an area that will almost always have a mandatory evac if a hurricane heads our way.. so disney has always been our designated meet up with everyone in our family place and home away from home... never been a prob (heck kids just thought it was a mini vacation) until of course last year when we had to go 3 times :scared1: big prob was trying to get ressies for the last one... we can always book in advance just in case but then we chance the risk of losing our deposit if evac orders are not given.. (of course we could always go anyway since we are passholders but not during the week if school is still not canceled..) anywhooo so we were thinking of instead our our usual (WL/AKL) we were thinking of trying dolphin/swan instead anyone stay there during hurricane? or anyone know if there cancelation policy is the same as disney?
I know this seems like a strange post but we are FINALLY getting our roof done and so we are looking at finances etc and trying to brace for another year just in case... hope you get point of this post its late and I am just up sleepless after a day of pounding/banging etc..on my roof...

I am sitting on this question too. Disney is our hurricane destination as well. Booking and maybe losing deposit, booking and going hurricane or not, or waiting too long and not getting a room seems to be our only options.

If the wind doesn't start blowing until value season we have a better chance. I think the Dolphin is an excellent choice because it has a lot to offer indoors. Disney has yet to loose power so it seems you would have some food options the arcade and things to do if confined to indoors. Like with Francis and Jeanne. If I had of waited one day longer, I would have not been able to book for Jeanne.

When I stayed at the Dolphin last Oct their cancelation policy was the same as Disney. The cost of one night.

Not a strange post at all. My father's house was finally put back together last week and here we go again.

I am sending you a PM.

Thnaks Turn r Yep if we wait they stop taking ressies don't want that to happen as we all know they have plenty of availability and Disney is def our choice becuase of teh power situation I have kids to think of plus having to evac and not knowing when we can come back if they close our bridge i would like the kids to be where they feel normal not stuck in a room in orlando... but the stress of scrambeling to get a ressie plus trying to do it before the close the bookings and also of taking the chance thatt the storm may turn die out etc and we would lose our deposit (well we would prob go and just enjoy) anywhoo i just thought the dolphin woul dbe a good choice since it is on disney (so power issue is taken care of) and it is inside so they will have stuff to do.... again thnaks for your advice and i welcome any others who have any experience wiith teh swan dolphin for hurricanes...

Your welcome, Ruttie.

Did you catch the thread this morning about there being no rooms available at the moderates from Aug 24 -30? Maybe it just my Hurricane "jitters', but they seems a bit odd for late August. That's about the time the winds started to blow last year.

I don't mind losing the deposit, it the part about not knowing when to book that's frustrating.

What to do? What to do? :confused3

anyone else have any thoughts input?? posted this really late last night...
