If I reserve a room now on their website for March....and then decide maybe we can't do it, can I cancel penalty free? I read their cancelation policy

Canceling your reservation after 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on 28 March, 2007, or failing to show, will result in a charge equal to the first night's stay per room to your credit card. Taxes may apply. Failing to call or show before check-out time after the first night of a reservation will result in cancellation of the remainder of your reservation

and it looks as long as I do it 24 or 48 hours in advance I'm ok, but I wanted to ask you guys to make sure. And if a cheaper rate comes available between now and then will I get it or will I be locked into whatever rate I get now? I was just thinking to reserve now because we'll be going around spring break and I'm sure they'll book up....but at the same time not really sure right now if we can take the extra time off to stay there for a day. TIA

You have to cancel it 24 or 48 hours in advance. You won't get a hassle. This past spring, I had two reservations because I wasn't sure exactly when I could take off work. We went on one of the trips, and I cancelled the other. No problem.

THanks cruz91 what about getting a better rate if one comes out do you know anything about that?

I also did the same. Keep watching every day or two. The rates change often. I don't remember the exact amounts, but from my last trip, I know the average nightly rate I got ended up dropping over 30% (and I'm thinking it was closer to 40%). You may have to do the math yourself before you call, though, because the phone folks aren't that helpful at finding the lowest cost. From what I found, if you go on-line and check for the dates you're requesting, then see the 'best flex rate' and apply the appropriate discount based on time of stay (for stays of 7 nights or more, 25% - 4-6 nights ??%, etc). Then once you figure it out, call Nick and tell them to adjust your rate based on the new price. You can have a new email sent as proof of your change, and the confirmation number will always stay the same.

Great thanks, I've got AAA so we qualify for that rate. Thanks for the info. One other question they won't charge my credit card now will they?

I don't remember for sure, but they may charge 1 night's stay as a deposit. You can call and ask. If you cancel, you'd get it back. I know some stuff I booked did charge in advance (like Cindy's breakfast) and some stuff didn't.

We originally booked our 8/06 trip at $315 a night! We were able to get the rate reduced twice to $167 as the rates dropped. They gave me hard time the second time but not the first. We had the guaranteed (I think that's what they call it) rate and had to prepay the whole trip and were not allowed to cancel.

I just called the reservations # and asked to have my rate reduced to the rate that was showing on the computer. Be persistent if they give you a hard time.

Enjoy your trip!

I don't do the cheapest rate just because of the hassle if you want to cancel (actually - you can't cancel that rate). Actually - if you're going 7 days or more, the best flex rate with the 25% discount will always be cheaper (at least that's what I saw).

You can cancel and they do not charge your credit card in advance unless you take an advance purchase price. I did that since I knew I was definitely going but only for the first 2 days. They didn't even charge my cc until we checked out. They will honor lower prices with just a phone call. Enjoy!

Kathinowa - did you enjoy your trip??? I kept thinking we may run into each other, but then I remembered I have no idea who you are. I hope you had fun, we did!

For 2nd week in aug., our rate was 315.00. They dropped it the first time to 159.00, but I had to make a guaranteed reservation-meaning no more rate changes. I then got an email maybe a week before we went that said 129.00 a night AND 3rd night FREE. I printed the email and took it to check-in. They gave me 129.00/nt, but no free 3rd nt. This was for a 2 bedroom suite.
