Making Multiple Reservations

I totally see your point you're making. One extra reservation somewhere else, that's fine by me!. But I'm scrolling through the cancelled reservations threads and people are literally giving up 6 BOG's ONE WEEK before their trip. Come on, now ;) That's a bit excessive.

And I think that's a really good point you're making there. It'll be easier to decide where you'll be to eat on each days if you can also make the FP's at the same time. Sometimes, you do have to adjust because there's only one specific day where you can get a hot ticket, and you don't have the hopper option. Something I'd like to suggest as well.

As far as regulating, MDE can limit it to one per restaurant, per hotel reservation. I'm sure they can have their servers limit some of these extreme hoarders some way or another :)
Where can you look at cancelled reservations? I'd like to look at this trend.

I have one date I'm looking to book for Ohana...November 19th. I have been looking twice a day, every day to try and reserve something. I have all my other days booked and plan on working my FP's around my reservations, not the other way around....but I understand how complicated it seems to be. I did book another restaurant for the 19th, just in case we can't get Ohana....so I can see why reservations get changed. I wouldn't think of booking one restaurant several times, just because I would like flexibility. I have to take the times that are open if I want to eat at a certain restaurant. The times are not always perfect. I would think the system could eliminate people from booking the same restaurant three times in one night using their booking numbers. But it doesn't sound like that is the case. That seems a bit over the top and a tad selfish to book several times in one night for the same party. Maybe that's why I can't get Ohana for the 19th. Anyway...good luck to all. My hope is that something will open up.

What if you want to eat at a restaurant more than once? We are hoping to do BOG lunch and dinner. At the moment we only have a lunch ADR.

I have heard about people doing breakfast and dinner at Ohana. Should that not be allowed?

I don't think there is a good way to know across multiple days what people will actually be using.

3 ADRs per restaurant per day seems excessive, but how many people actually have that many?
Just only talking about the people that make 3+ reservations for the same restaurant and hoard them until the last minute. I've eaten in the same restaurant twice in a stay before. I don't see it often, but if you look at those cancellation threads, they're hard to miss. Just yesterday I was looking through the threads saw someone releasing 6 BOG reservations. Do you think that person honestly was going to go to BOG 6 times? That's selfish. I do not find going to the same restaurant for lunch and again for dinner, etc. selfish in the slightest. They're two completely different experiences :) I think your plans sound awesome.

Agreed, no fighting on this thread please. You can avoid arguing by reading carefully and seeing what I was actually referring to.

There are official cancellation threads for each month here in this Dining Reservations "sub board" - here is June's, for example.

So this allows you to see when a DisBoard member is cancelling (what, when, how many) - in the hopes you can snag it up if you are timely.
Thank you...found it. Hopefully this will help...but the numbers have to be right too don't they? It's harder to get a party of seven. But....I'm going to keep trying.

I've seen parties as big as 9,10 people canceling. Definitely don't give up! That's the motto of ADR's ;) Best of luck to you, I hope you find everything you're looking for.

...I'm currently trying to hunt down a beaches and cream ADR. We want some ice cream!! It's a bit harder, the place is so small :(

I feel like planning your dining is a process. It took me about 2 weeks to get a darn near perfect (for me) schedule of meals. I have almost as many cancellation emails as confirmation, but I release my ADRs as soon as I know it's not going to work out or I find something better. Just sayin'

Lol, I know that feeling! My original ADR's are usually unrecognizable by the time we actually leave for WDW. I like playing around with the schedule, and things do open up with time. I live in Florida, so never in my right mind would I book a vacation 6 months out. I always miss the 180 days, so I play around quite a lot with my ADRs. Planning is fun ;)

OP, I agree with you. Someone else in this thread mentioned that they want to make the perfect trip for their family, so they're going to have a few multiple reservations to eat at the times they want. The only problem I have with this, is that EVERYONE wants to have the 'perfect trip', and as people do this, there's less availability for others.

The practices of making daily/multiple reservations for a single day isn't good planning, it's simply selfish. We went in 2013, and I am shocked how much more planning this trip has required. We booked within the 180 day window, and can't find much that I was hoping for ADRs....we're trying new things, but I have my fingers crossed for BOG (didn't get that last time either!).

I wouldn't classify myself as an extreme hoarder, but I've been known to hoard once in awhile. It's harder to plan ADRs when your travelling companions live in separate states, as well as working around three separate budgets and ideas of how money should be spent. I still have both a breakfast and a lunch BOG ADR on the same date because we have not yet come to an agreement on which to do. Will I keep them both until the last minute? Absolutely not! I recognize and understand that there are many people who would also like to eat there. However, I did put the work into securing them (I don't have 180+10). Anyone can do the same. It just takes persistence.

One final thought - Even if someone were to hoard ADRs all the way up until the day before, someone is still going to get their cancellations, and may even feel luckier for the last minute snag.

In theory, yes. But that is usually SUPER last minute. Families who can't get it in advance have no choice but to schedule different ADR's at different parks and book their hard to get FP's accordingly. A family will not always be able to readjust their entire schedule just because a hoarder finally released a bundle of ADR's 3 days before the date. People like me end up getting them. We AP's eat there all the time. I've ate their every visit, thanks to the cancellers-- it doesn't affect me. I'm just thinking about other families and people that would like to get an ADR 180+ days, but can't because someone scooped up 6 of them at 12am. That is not fair in the slightest. Back when we were kids, our mother was a night nurse. She possibly wouldn't have been able to book at the time.

This! I typed something similar but wasn't sure I was making sense. A little consideration for everyone else when making ADRs would be nice. I guess it's hard for me to understand because I'm a planner so to try and figure out my days ahead of time wasn't that big of deal to me. But I was up at 4:30 AM CST ready to go at 5 trying to get the ADRs I wanted to make my daughter's first trip and my first trip since '99 when I was 12 magical but the only thing available on my last day (day 7) was a late lunch at BOG. I took it because I just wanted something at BOG but the lunch menu doesn't really appeal to me so I keep checking but I'd prefer to not have to change all our plans around at the last minute just like everyone that is scheduling BOG dinners for every night of their trip. And again I think maybe a change to fast passes at 180 and ADRs 120 days out would maybe make things better or something similar.

@TheDisneyNurse I totally understand where you're coming from. Not everyone has the luxury to keep checking all the time, and not everyone is able to build in a few flexible days into their plans. I agree that having six ADRs for the same place on the same day, or consecutive days is kind of outrageous. I think really that comes down to poor planning. How could someone not have an idea of what days they'll be in which parks? And I say this as someone who has to work around blockout dates that are released after the 180.

You make a great point there! I check the park times when planning, and go off that. We hate going during early EMH. That's how we set an itinerary. There are better ways to plan that don't involve making 7 of the same reservations and waiting to see what happens. But that's just my two cents.

We need A&E and Rapunzel, too and we'll get there, even if we have to wait. I won't let FP+ ruin my family's vacation. This is specifically why we are going to MK 3 days. ADRs are far more important to us.
