Well, we finally got a day where everyone will be home in the evening...no soccer games, nobody is working today, we'll all be home, so I'm making Lasagna today :flower:
What would you make for dessert if you were making Lasagna???

Lasagna is pretty heavy so maybe something light? Spumoni would be perfect but it is a hassle to make.

Lemon Cake?

Ice cream is always popular around here and if you wanted it to be fancy you could layer it with syrup in wine glasses and serve parfait!

Ok - now I'm hungry.

Trifle

1 lb strawberries

3 bananas

3 boxes jello gelatin

1 can fruit cocktail

1 pound cake

4 boxes of jello vanilla pudding

1 carton whipped cream

Preparation:

Cut pound cake into thin slices.

Layer slices in the bottom and around the edges of a medium-sized clear bowl.

Cut bananas and strawberries into bowl.

Layer in the can of fruit cocktail.

If desired - add one cup of brandy.

Pour liquified jello gelatin over ingredients. This should settle at the bottom of the bowl.

In separate bowl, make four boxes of whipped pudding.

Pour the pudding over the other ingredients, nearly filling the bowl.

Top with a layer of whipped cream.

Refrigerate overnight or at least a couple of hours ... then serve!

I'm not one to match dinner and dessert. Since we rarely have dessert, my family would love anything but their favorite is almost always brownies.

A light dessert could be a jell-o mold but my family doesn't eat jell-o so that's out here.

Ironically enough, we're making lasagna today too, but birthday cake & ice cream is the dessert---it's my dad's birthday, so the dinner & dessert is for him. :flower:

The suggestions so far sound good! I'd be apt to make something light as well.

How about a very simple very yummy brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup drizzle over it. :cloud9:

Ok, now I'm really hungry. My sauce is cooking right now and mmmmmmmmmm it smells yummy. Thanks for the great ideas. We always have ice cream, so I'm looking for something different. My kids always loved a trifle....I'll have to check out that recipe!

Happy Birthday to your dad!!

We usually just have dessert on holidays, but I think I would go to Costco and buy the Taramisu, its the best and better than anything homemade and I make a great apple pie.

What is this, saucy Sunday, LOL? My "gravy" is simmering as well!

When having a heavy meal like Lasagna, I think it's best to stick with something light for dessert, like a nice Sorbet.

Oh, and the Tiramisu sold at Costco tastes just like the kind that is served at Olive Garden, it's very good!

We don't have a costco... are they similar to Sam's Club or BJ's?

Ok, I decided to make baked custard, sounds yummy on a chilly fall day:)
