Making Good on a Very Merry Promise! COMPLETE!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! :wave2: Great update. It's sounds like the exact opposite of what we are planning at Epcot! Someday we will try all of that but I think the kids are too young right now. Looks like fun though!
:thumbsup2
I will use a stroller as long as I can get away with it. Then I know where the kids are and I don't have to hear any whining. I tend to walk fast and even when we are walking through the mall my 3 year old says "mooooom, you're going too fast. I'm too little!" DH said we don't need a stroller this year. I asked him if he was going to carry 2 kids everytime they said they were tired, he said - Don't forget the stroller!!:rotfl2:

BTW - does anyone else feel completely loopy 48 hours before their trip? I am running aroung trying to get things done and feeling like I will never be ready in time!

UPDATE HERE!

Thurs., Nov. 29 ~ Back to EPCOT!!

This is our day to return to Epcot and hit World Showcase! :yay: I hope the kids find it as interesting as I think Tom and I will.

We will once again eat breakfast at the condo. At this point in our trip we will either be determined to get there by rope drop or so exhausted we won’t care what time we get there! :confused3 It’ll be one extreme or the other!

Things we MUST do/see in World Showcase:
1. Kidcot Stations
2. See the British Invasion (Abby’s 5th grade teacher is a huge Beatles fan and it is rubbing off on my child.)
3. Chinese Acrobats
4. Passports for the kids… I think they’ll really like this and what a cool memento!
5. Santas in each country.
6. The UK maze.
7. Check out the train in Germany.

Things we MAY do:
1. Get an oyster in Japan and see if there is a pearl in it.
2. Catch the Beauty and Beast performance in France.
3. Play on the playground in Norway.
4. Have a margarita in Mexico! (No, not the kids, just the grown ups! )

To be honest, I haven’t done a lot of looking at what else WS has to offer. I don’t have much marked on our customized map. I plan to bring our guidebooks with us and we’ll have time to peruse them on our drive down to my mom’s. I’d love it if you would all share with me the things you wouldn’t miss there as well. ::yes::

I have no idea how long it will take us to get through the WS. :confused3 I’ve heard you could spend days there! I guess it depends on how much you do.

I did make an ADR for this day. :thumbsup2 I read every menu from every place in Epcot and I got very frustrated! :headache: It seemed there was no TS place in here that all 3 of my kids would’ve been happy at. Then one day Sharky (Trentmom) mentioned that they really liked Garden Grill. :scratchin I had sort of been avoiding character meals because 1. They are too expensive IMO and 2. The kids said they didn’t really want to do any. (I know… it all goes back to that very grumpy first morning at Chef Mickey’s!) Anyway, I looked at the menu and lo and behold there is something that will make everyone happy on it. :yay: So I called… it was about 3 weeks ago, I think. Again with the last minute planning! We could eat at 8:00 pm. Uh-uh. :sad2: Not gonna happen. So I asked for the latest lunch and took a 3:00 slot. I know, I know… I was grumbling about the "2:55 as in 5 minutes to 3:00" time at Sci-fi! But… this eating at off times thing does kind of work for us and this way we can snack in WS in the morning and not worry about not being hungry for an earlier lunch! I’ll let you know how it works out!

Anyway, this day in a nutshell… we will take as long as we please wandering the WS and if we want to hit some rides in FW again, we’ll do that too. My family may have to drag me out of the gate at the end of day – kicking and screaming I don’t wanna go home! :sad1:

UNCLE JOHN SAYS:
Sorry, Uncle John has been doing a lot of hunting...not much time on the keyboard.....(sorry if it isnt PC, hey its what I like to do!!)
WS sounds great, Garden Grill is great!!! Ride the boat in Norway...kids will love it.....same with Mexico......
Please see the American Adventure show in the America building !!!!
LOTS OF HIDDEN MICKEY'S IN WS.......
The British invasion is good, we have never caught the entire act....
Find out when the characters come out on the double decker bus near America......great photo ops with Spaceship earth in the background (across the lake).
IF you get through WS quickly take the boat (near UK) to the Boardwalk area, Tom would like the ESPN club......they have flat panel TV's in the bathroom (every mans dream)......IF that doesnt put a tear in his eye nothing will!!LOL
You also get great views of other hotels (Dolphin, Swan, Boardwalk, Yacht club, Beach club)
IF you can make it to the night, the laser show is awesome....you have to have a plan of attack for viewing and get there early!!
The Margarita's in Mexico are OK, not great......TOO MUCH $$. I know, I know, "your on vacation".

Does anyone know if they still do the statues near the America building??Those used to be awesome, those people could hold perfectly still for 5-6 minutes then strike another pose...
IF you really want to go crazy take the boat to the beach club/yacht club and go to "Beaches and Cream" and order the 'Kitchen Sink".

ENJOY!!!

PS. On your custom maps are you putting a UJS (Uncle John Says) in the places I recommend to go???? :thumbsup2

Thanks for picking up on the subtlety Trentmom!:rotfl:

Nicole, don't forget to get the kid's pics in front of the big troll! Its a family tradition for us! Weird but true!

No Problem:rotfl2:

Don't miss the Temple of Heaven in China. It is an exact replica of the real deal, and it is an "acoustically perfect structure," which means that when you stand in the center of the building and talk, you will be able to hear your voice exactly the way others hear you (the way you sound on a recording). The kids should get a big kick out of it! Plus, it's absolutely beautiful!

We have been to WS 3 times, and it's just been in researching our upcoming trip that I've realized how much of WS we've always missed! I had no idea there was a 1/10 scale Eiffel tower in France!

If you like em, Grey Goose Lemon Slushies in France...hear they are better than the margaritas! :confused3

I will be trying one this trip!

Sara

I am always finding out stuff on your thread. I'll have to try one of those grey goose slushies. And did someone say something about a laser show on the Boardwalk & taking a boat to get there? :thumbsup2 We'll have to try that too.

Oh & yes they still have the live statutes.

I'll be thinking about you shoveling your driveway while I am laying by the outdoor pool!

I don't think they have the double decker bus anymore. I think its character connection in a building.

I think I read that the Epcot tree lighting is at 6:00, but not positive on that. It's supposed to be very pretty.

Lovebuzzandwoody...Hi! I found your pretrippe on kindakrazy2's trippie. I just thought I'd stop by. I'm LOVING it btw...

I have another computer question..(Hey..I'm a nurse..I ROCK when it comes to taking care of sick kids..but I STINK when it comes to being creative on the computer!!) How did you do the link to your updates on your first post here ? That would be so GREAT if I could figure out how to do that for my own pretripie. WARNING...I will need step by step directions...(as you have probably figured out!!!)

Thanks so much!!

 Thanks for coming over! I'm glad you like it!

If you even knew how funny it is that you're asking ME for computer advice!!! :rotfl2: But I do know the answer! Go to the post you want to link in your first post. Click on the post number in the upper right hand corner. That will bring up a window with just that post. Highlight and copy the url address. Close that window and go to your first post and click on edit. Put the cursor where you want your link to go. Click the little earth with the chain link on the tool bar at the top of this box. It will have a space for you to insert the url code from the post. Paste it there and click okay. It will insert it into the post and there will be part of it highlighted. Don't do anything to that, just type what you want to say (i.e. Update #3) and it will appear where the highlight was and then finish the edit. You should now have a link that looks and works like mine! You can do this to the title of your trippie too so that folks can click on it to go to your's!

Look at me sending readers your way!

Just echoing that the playground is gone and nope - no going on the ship anymore!

Garden Grill was great! The kids loved the food and the characters were wonderful with the kids!

Thanks for the new reader Sarah!

And I'm glad your girls liked the Garder Grill too! I'm really excited about going! Who doesn't love Chip and Dale?!?!?

You might want to check out Off-Kilter (Celtic Rock) in Canada-my nephews were 10 and 7 and they loved them last year.

Thanks Hedy... that's two votes for Off-Kilter... we'll have to check it out.

Have you seen the Candy Artist? She is outside of the toy store in Japan. She is great. Get there early and be standing right in front of her stand when the show starts. There is a very good chance your kids will be picked.

I've seen pictures of the candy artist. Is she in the Times Guide? I've heard you don't want to eat what she makes - that it tastes awful!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi! :wave2: Great update. It's sounds like the exact opposite of what we are planning at Epcot! Someday we will try all of that but I think the kids are too young right now. Looks like fun though!

That is exactly why we didn't go when the kids were smaller. If we'd gone, we never would have attempted to do HALF this much!

BTW - does anyone else feel completely loopy 48 hours before their trip? I am running aroung trying to get things done and feeling like I will never be ready in time!

I feel loopy and I don't go for 2 1/2 weeks! :rotfl: I've decided to do at least one thing everyday from here on out that is prep for the trip. Yesterday I made a first aid kit to go in my backpack! :thumbsup2

Thanks for picking up on the subtlety Trentmom!

Nicole, don't forget to get the kid's pics in front of the big troll! Its a family tradition for us! Weird but true!

Oh... so that's how you got your turkey! :rotfl2:

And where is said Troll? :confused3

OOOhhhh, good tips! Those are going on cards baby! :thumbsup2

And..... :welcome: to my pre-trippie! Have you been lurking or did you just find us? Either way, it's nice to have you!! Thanks for the ideas! :goodvibes

If you like em, Grey Goose Lemon Slushies in France...hear they are better than the margaritas!

I will be trying one this trip!

Sara

Oh yes, Sara! I've heard of the lemon slushies on Tiggerbell's reports! Margaritas out.... lemon lushies in! I mean, slushies! (That was actual REAL typo but I left it because that's just funny right there!)

I am always finding out stuff on your thread. I'll have to try one of those grey goose slushies. And did someone say something about a laser show on the Boardwalk & taking a boat to get there? We'll have to try that too.

Oh & yes they still have the live statutes.

:yay: for great tips on my thread!!! :yay:

I had heard the statues were not there anymore! They must be like the umbrella in MGM... they're there, they're not there, they're somewhere else, they're there but they don't squirt water anymore! :lmao:

24 hours from right now I will be halfway to the World! Just a wee bit excited!!!

:cool1: :woohoo:  :dance3: party:

That is dance party worthy!!! Now get off the DIS and go pack woman!!!

I'll be thinking about you shoveling your driveway while I am laying by the outdoor pool!

:lmao:

Good morning Monica! You snuck this in while I was responding to everyone from yesterday! I checked my e-mail last night and I didn't have one that I had replies on my thread! :confused3 I hate when that happens!

Anyway... I think the bus is a very every once in awhile thing now.
And I think you are correct about the tree-lighting. It is supposed to be
on the times guide though. I want to catch this at least one of the days we are there!!!

UNCLE JOHN SAYS:

Got anything yet?

WS sounds great, Garden Grill is great!!! Ride the boat in Norway...kids will love it.....same with Mexico......

The master approves!!! :thumbsup2 I've heard the boat in Norway is booooorrrring. :confused3

Please see the American Adventure show in the America building !!!!

Got it.

LOTS OF HIDDEN MICKEY'S IN WS.......

And I probably will not see even one!

The British invasion is good, we have never caught the entire act....

Abby wants to get a pic for her teacher.

Find out when the characters come out on the double decker bus near America......great photo ops with Spaceship earth in the background (across the lake).

Don't know if it still goes around. Did you see it in August?

IF you get through WS quickly take the boat (near UK) to the Boardwalk area, Tom would like the ESPN club......they have flat panel TV's in the bathroom (every mans dream)......IF that doesnt put a tear in his eye nothing will!!LOL

You're too funny! We actually went to the ESPN club in Chicago on the "consolation trip". They have really good food!

IF you can make it to the night, the laser show is awesome....you have to have a plan of attack for viewing and get there early!!

Gotta do this one of the night's we are there.

The Margarita's in Mexico are OK, not great......TOO MUCH $$. I know, I know, "your on vacation".

Forget these! Lemon slushies have bumped them!

PS. On your custom maps are you putting a UJS (Uncle John Says) in the places I recommend to go???? :thumbsup2

ummm.... yes.

OH NO! :scared1: Owen's teacher just called! He just barfed! Gotta go!!! :scared1:

Thanks for the well wishes for Owen! I'm afraid it isn't just an upset tummy... he has a fever. :sad1: I feel really bad because I haven't taken him or Evan for their flu shots yet. I was waiting to see if our ped. got the mist in. Guess I should've just gotten them the shot.

I WILL NOT GET SICK
I WILL NOT GET SICK
I WILL NOT GET SICK

Gosh, I hope that works! It's about all the protection I have... I can't get flu shots because I'm allergic to eggs. They grow the serum in eggs - did ya'll know that? At least it's now and not 2 weeks from now. Right, Monica?
::yes::

I'll be back later with a DIS question for everyone ~ kind of a game, if you will! See ya later!!!

24 hours from right now I will be halfway to the World! Just a wee bit excited!!!

It would be really great to hear all about it when you get back, maybe in a trip report;)

who is the subtle one now:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

LOVe....Hope Owen is better soon..At least your trip is 2 1/2 weeks away, plenty of time for him to get better:goodvibes

LOVe....Hope Owen is better soon..At least your trip is 2 1/2 weeks away, plenty of time for him to get better:goodvibes

Yes, and plenty of time for it to run it's course through the rest of us! :sad2:
Well, hopefully Tom and Abby's flu shots will protect them! :confused3 Evan and I are screwed.

Hey everyone!

I thought it would be fun, since we are all TR addicts, to tell who's trip report you read first! Was that the TR that got you HOOKED and why?

Naturally, I'll go first! ;)

My "first" was by MNRMommy and it was called "The once in a lifetime pack it all in cuz we ain't comin' back TR"! They took a 14 day trip to the world and did everything they had always wanted to do because she was leaving her job to be a sahm and they figured they might not be able to afford it for a long time. Get this: she made shirts for all 4 of them for all 14 days of the trip! :scared:

Her TR was very informative. I learned about stuff that I didn't even know you could do. Sadly, she never finished it. :confused3 But it was good while it lasted.

I got really HOOKED on TR's after reading Tiggerbell's TR ~ Jaime's Flower Power Trip. She is hysterically funny! Her report lead me to Nebo's... Nebo's to DisneyDad's... and the rest is, shall we say, history! :goodvibes

Who's going to go next? popcorn::
