Making DVC Rental Request With Multiple Companies

I am attempting to book at Disney World trip for early May 2021 and need 3 rooms for 3 families. We would love to stay at the Polynesian by renting DVC points. I put in a request at the earliest I could but not enough points are available for 3 rooms for the time we want to go yet. Has anyone made requests with multiple DVC rental companies to help increase their chances of finding a room? I know some have an upfront fee like David's but others will look for no cost. Thanks for any advice on if this is doable or if you have done it before!

I used DVC Rental Store for our family trip last year as I did not have enough of my own points to get a second 2BR villa. They were great to work with, and they actually had an insurance program in case our plans changed. We also did not have to put the full balance down until the reservation was secured.

I have put in 2 requests at once with both https://dvcrequest.com/ (David's) and https://www.dvcstore.com/. This is when I have put in a request with David's at the 12 month mark, and they then look for availability from owners at 11 months. When the 11 months came, they sent me an email that there wasn't anything available right then and gave me the option of waiting or getting a refund. I chose to wait but then put in a request with DVC store, which doesn't charge a fee. When one came through, I immediately contacted the other and got off the waitlist and got a refund, if applicable. I have done this twice. Just note, that rental agreements with both of these brokers are non-refundable for any reason. You may need to get outside insurance, if available.

One thing to remember is that rentals are a private transaction with an owner.

If you go with different ones, you run the risk that you will secure some and not all, You would also want to be sure that the owners would be willing to out traveling with on the reservation to keep you as close as possible, if important.

Going with one agency allows them to secure all or none, but it does limit Too.

OP, listen to @Sandisw--she is a wise, knowledgeable person!

But, also, while you're thinking about renting points, read through some of the threads here about people who had points rented during the period when the parks and resorts have been closed. It's not a pretty story, for renters or owners. Sure, by May 2021, the pandemic might be a thing of the past (I hope it is!) but what if it isn't? Then you could end up out the entire amount of your stay, with little or no recourse.

Get informed before you make your decision. No way would I make a nonrefundable reservation right now. No one knows what next May is going to look like.

Thanks! This is exactly my situation. I put in the request with David's 12 months in advance and when the 11 month mark hit, I got notification that no points were available to book the 3 rooms. I chose to stay on the waitlist too but wondered if I should try another company that does a free look. Glad to hear someone else has tried this. I agree that I'd need to stay on top of e-mail and contact the other to get off their waitlist immediately upon reservation with the other company.

I hear ya! I already purchased travel insurance with a "cancel for any reason" clause.

I do not plan to split the 3 room between companies. I requested 3 rooms (3 separate requests with notes that the 3 must be linked together) and would do the same with another company in hoped that one of the companies would have DVC members renting out points that would fit our need for 3 rooms. Hope that makes sense! If there is still some risk with that, please let me know. Thanks!

Head over to the DVC forums and read up on this broker. Lots of unhappy owners and renters..myself included.

Contracts have been changed recently as well, so be sure to look at what you are now signing....it is not the same as it was before resorts closed

There could be a lull in owners willing to work with him again given what has taken place so you may end up having to wait until the 7 month mark for any points.

ETA: Be sure to check that your CFAR insurance will cover you even if you are eligible for his new voucher plan...some have said they were denied an insurance claim because that no longer makes it a non refundable expense.

You'd also need to make sure that the "cancel for any reason" insurance includes if the travel provider, not the insured, cancels. On the 200+ page thread about David's, no one has come back (that had CFAR insurance) to say that they were covered when the resorts were closed.

That's good, @MinnieMohhse. Please make sure that "any reason" includes a pandemic, since it might not. I know--any reason should equal any reason. But we're talking about insurance companies here!

Yeah, like they might require it to be called a pandemic in Spanish or Latin by the US government for it to be covered:rotfl2:
