Making Checks

I wondered if anyone has ever made their own checks? DH says it requires magnetic ink and a special font. He said if I made them there would be holds on my account until the funds clear??

I live in a very small town and I wanted to make them for paying bills in town that process in our small bank.

It's an actually a special printer that magnetically encodes the bottom of the checks. Try walmart.com they have check printing services.
