Making changes to a pin reservation

We got a great pin that would save us huge $$ at YC. Unfortunately the dates that we really want in Oct are not available. We chose specific dates based on airfare prices and it would save us lots to fly on those specific dates.

I have to book with my pin by 5/23. Can I go ahead and book other less desirable dates and then make changes if YC rooms become available for our preferred dates? I'm questioning this because I know that only a certain number of rooms are available with these pins and I don't know if they allow you to make any changes after the exp date.

I'd really appreciate any help from those of you that have had experience with this!

I had a 40% code that expired in March which I used to book GF for our August trip. I called last week to make changes to that reservation and it was no problem...in fact, I also added a day on and they gave me the extra night at the 40% off even though the pin had expired.
