Making candles last, candle warmer?

Okay, so I figured I'd be all budget minded and buy a candle warmer for my Yankee Candles (since they are so expensive).....but it doesn't work? :confused3 Do candle warmers not really work....are they all hype? LOL

I've even tried it with one of my jars from Home Interiors and it still isn't working. It gets really warm, even melted the wax in the large Yankee Candle that I had in it, still not even a slight scent coming from it.

So please someone tell me....did my budget minded idea just cost me more for buying a useless candle warmer?

That's strange! I wonder if you got a faulty candle warmer? I use a candle warmer and it works for me! Yankee candles work the best as far as keeping their scent for a long, long time. There are a few off name brands that work well. I don't know the names off the bat.

How long are you using the candle warmer? It can take awhile to heat up the candle (depending on the size). But once it's melty (is that a word?) you should have a nice scent.

Hmm, I left it plugged up for 4 hours and the candle was a large jar from Yankee (Clean Cotton) and absolutely NO scent was coming from it until you smelled the candle itself. You can't smell it a foot away though, or even 4-5 inches away...it's odd since it's a pretty strong smelling candle. I LOVE the candle warmer though, it fits right in with my decor....so I hate to take it back :(

That is odd. Four hours is plenty of time. I don't know what it could be. This is the first I've head of any problems with a candle warmer. I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

I got a candle warmer for Christmas, it is more of a "crockpot" style, for lack of a better description. I have a Wal-Mart candle in it, and after a little while it will smell really strong...I don't what your problem could be since you say it is melting the wax. Maybe it is the candle that is faulty?

that is weird. if the candle is melted and it's still not producing scent I'd bet it's the candle instead of the warmer. I use mine with cheap coffee cups and votives from yankee. I got the coffee cups at ikea for like 40cents each. It does take a long time to melt so I usually stick the coffee cup in the microwave for a min. or two and then leave it on the hot plate. Once I had a small yankee jar on the candle warmer and the glass cracked, that is why I now use the coffee cups with the votives.

I only use my candle warmers when I've burned the candle and its down to the last inch or 2. I've never had any problem with a lack of scent. I normally use "name brand" candles, but have also used the cheaper ones too.

As a Home Interiors consultant - we have been told to tell our customers that the jars our candles come in are not made for candle warmers and they could break. If they break, it could cause a fire. I hope this helps as far a averting a serious accident. Also, I am curious if your HI candle is in a new jar?

No Home Interiors candle is in an old jar....but I took it out anyway since it was too small for the jar warmer. It's really made for the medium or larger jar candles like Yankee makes. I may have to try it again....I really like the warmer LOL I guess I'm just used to tart melters, they start smelling in a few minutes....maybe 4 hours isn't enough for a 22oz Yankee Candle.

I use one with a Michaels 3.00 candle, and it fills my whole office after being on for a while. It is more of a subtle scent, that gradually is noticeable, but not an immediate aroma like when burning the candle directly. However, that could be the candle. I have been using the same one for over a year now and it still produces and aroma.
