Hi I'm alittle slow in finding out that my makeup is being discontinued (Prescriptives). I have used their foundation for about 15 years now. I liked the way it matched my skin color so well and wasn't very heavy. I had tried non dept store brands and they never matched my coloring. I even tried MAC and found that the color they gave me made me look to orange. So can anyone recommend a brand for me? I'm in my late 30's, I have enlarged pores, break out at times and sometimes have oily skin.

Thanks!

I use Bare Minerals and  it. Really great coverage and very natural looking. Is a bit pricey up front, but the stuff lasts forever so it works out to be a good value in the long run. I have read it is also really good for your skin.

Another for Bare Minerals. I never wore foundation until about 3 years ago, I am 49. I always found it way off and heavy feeling.

Bare Minerals feels like I am wearing nothing, gives great coverage and easy to apply. Well took me a bit of getting used t brush system, but darn it works.

I can now do full make-up in about 5-15 minutes depending on daytime or nighttime look.

Bare Minerals, here too. I use the foundation powder and the Mineral Veil. They have a new Matte foundation that I just bought, and it's awesome for my skin which gets oily on the T-zone! Try it! You won't be able to go back to liquid foundation. At least I don't think you can. I tried one day, and it was an awful feeling. :)

Edit: BTW, it has done wonders for my skin!

I dont buy any beauty product without checking here first and If I still have a question I jump on a board and discuss with the pros.

I also use bare minerals, but not in love with it.
Will be on the market soon for something new.

I like the Matte formula much better than the original version. I find the original version a bit shiney.. and really dont think anyone of 30 should wear shiny anything on their face unless it is New years eve lol.

Not sure how far you are from Tinton Falls, N.J. but there is a Company Store there. They sell Estee Lauder products.. which Prescriptives is part of. You may find what you are looking for there as they also have discontinued items.

Check Amazon.com. I found my favorite lipstick there after it had been discontinued. Got two...wish I had bought more!

Thanks. I am going to try to find one last one but eventually I will need more. I had a co worker who loved Bare Minerals but I guess I was always concerned about its coverage and my unpredicatable skin! I'll have to look into it.

To be honest, I think the coverage with Bare Minerals is awesome! You'll be surprised! I also think it makes you look younger.

I used to have adult breakouts, but very rarely now since I've started using it.

You could try MAC Studio Fix, which is a compact foundation. I LOVE it, because it has been the only product I've tried which is an exact color match for me, and with enough concealer, it has concealed properly. However, at Sephora on Black Friday, one of the ladies who works there told me it was too oily when I asked her a related question, and it's true. I'd have to use blotting sheets many times throughout the day. But, perhaps it's based on each person's chemistry with the product.

She recommended Makeup Forever brand for me, which I purchased (liquid). It has great coverage but it wasn't until I got home when I noticed it's a bit too orange. I'll see if I can get it to work correctly somehow and tone down the color.

Hi Where can you purchase Bare Minerals? Is it only on line? I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

I also used Prescriptives for years (over 10) and switched to Bare Minearls 3 years ago. Very, Very happy with BM.

You can get it at Ulta or Sephora. Bare Minerals.com was having a 20% off sale. Code is FRIENDS > it's case sensitive.

What kind of coloring do you have? MAC is very warm toned in general. The warms are very warm while the cools seem to match a more neutral skin tone.

I suggest going to a Sephora if you have one near by as they have a lot of brands to choose from. I personally cannot use many brands at all since they are either too pink or too orange for me. It's hard to be a light olive skin tone in the US :)

Another vote for Bare Minerals. I get certain items from Sephora but also check your QVC listings because they will offer great deals on kits that you can't find anywhere else and much cheaper than buying everything seperately. That's how I got started and became a full-fledged addict!

i bought a kabuki brush at CVS and imo, it works better than the Bare Minerals one. I suggest not spending the money on theirs. It's too expensive and not that great.

I vote for Bare Minerals. QVC has a very active beauty forum you may get some other recom. They seem to review almost all makeups. BM has a starter kit you might like to try.

I love my Bare Minerals as well. And I don't wear make-up often.

If you have a Sephora or Ulta near you they'll have the BM and a bunch of other brands as well. Call and set up a consultation. Tell them your issue with the make-up being discontinued and go from there. If you need to get the make-up done that day and sleep on it, if you like how it looks by the end of the day you'll know, otherwise just go back and try again until you find what you like.
