The one on the right is the costme I'm going to be wearing. I was looking on some celebrity style sites looking for some makeup how-to's, and I found these. Which one would be better for the costume?

Ignore that its Miley. I just needed to find something fast.

Please reply as soon as possible. The recital is tomorrow, haha.

I don't see much difference, but in my experience with dance recitals, the more dramatic the better. It should be more than your normal makeup. Stage makeup. Darker lipstick, thicker, darker eyeliner/mascara, eyeshadow, blush. For 1. the stage lights- you need more makeup onstage and 2. recitals require sparkles and lotsa makeup.
But you probably knew most of that... or ese your recitals are different than ours... ahah but good luck either way!

Well if it's for a dance recital i'd go for something more dramatic than either of those. Usually dancers have super dramatic exaggerated makeup.

I highly recommend looking up makeup tutorials on youtube.
just type 'dramatic makeup tutorial' or 'dance makeup tutorial' or whatever makeup tutorial and guaranteed you'll find something, and they give you instructions on how to create the looks too.

Good luck and I hope you find something!!

I agree with the previous posters. It definately has to be more dramatic. And if you think it looks insane you have done it right. :) Don't worry about over doing it too much either. Good luck!!

You need something WAY more dramatic, like something you might see on the Christian Dior models, those looks on Miley aren't good for dance, you won't see them well.

You could do something like these, just with different colours maybe, and go dark around the eyes with waterproof makeup to make sure it stays on well, and if you sweat a lot you'll need waterproof for sure.

I LOVE the eyes in this one, they're very noticeable.

These are good too.

You also need to make sure that you don't look washed out, and don't forget blush.
If you can, use liquid eyeliner instead of pencil eyeliner.
If you have short eyelashes, buy some false eyelashes to use, and don't forget to retouch your makeup right before you perform..

Id pick the second one, the eye makeup is darker and more dramatic which goes good with the outfit

I actually think the makeup on the model is good for the outfit

I'd go with an eyeshadow like this:

because you'll be at a competition. Miley's are too subtle and too everyday for competition.

This is where you can find that particular shade of eyeshadow.

However, Hot Topic does some of my favourite oddball colours and they have a good red here

However, if you've a Sephora near you, I'd check there first.

I'd also use a blush and a stronger lipstick than usual.

Sephora and Mac have REALLY good makeup, especially Mac Pro.

I could live at Sephora. I love their make-up selections.

But sometimes they just don't have the colours I need and Morbid Makeups (Hot Topic's brand) has such fun colours.

If it's a group thing, how come yall aren't doing all the same makeup, like getting it all done?

but like everyone here has said; more dramatic the better!

here's one of ours from last year.

see, very dramatic. it took forever to come off!

My sister's been dancing since she was three and is now in a ballet, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical competition team. If there's anything I've observed from the make-up she wears during those, it is that it kind of makes her look like a doll up close, but looks awesome on stage.

Lots of glitter, eye make-up, blush, etc. Here's a pic of her that my mom took, if you want to see what I mean:
