Makeup experts help needed

I've had it suggested before that perhaps part of my shine problem is my moisturizer. Perhaps a switch is in order. Any suggestions? I see Neutrogena makes an oil free moisture with SPF 35 (MUST have SPF...I am outside all the time...#farmlife ). I sometimes use one of those vit C dark spot corrector moisture lotions. I try to use it at night before bed, but DH says he hates how it smells (smells like baby aspirin to me), so I've been using it in the am.

Ugh. Being beautiful is hard work! :rotfl2:
I like burts bees sensitive daily moisturizing cream. No smell, not heavy.
And here's another foundation option, try loreal tru match. Grab a couple of colors that look close. It's not expensive so you have that option. Get some foam disposable makeup sponges. Wet one, squeeze out in a towel so it's just barely damp. Lightly dot on makeup, and then use the sponge to give even light coverage.

You may want to try Garnier BB Creme for oily skin. It is pretty sheer so no "make up face" but it does even you out and the one for oily skin is anti-shine. It contains spf so you don't need to wear a sunscreen under it and it's available at cvs or walgreens so you can usually get it with a coupon or cvs/walgreens "bucks" and save quite a bit.

If you are going to be photographed with a flash you should stay away from using SPF products and certain powders, as they will sometimes cause photo flashback (you will look like a crazy kabuki ghost!).

I would HIGHLY recommend watching some Lisa Eldridge videos (http://www.lisaeldridge.com/). She is an amazing professional makeup artist and has tons of great tutorials for natural looking makeup, along with product links and descriptions at all price points. She's also really in to enhancing your natural skin, as opposed to creating a "mask" of makeup. I don't really wear makeup in my every day life, but I am OBSESSED with watching her videos.

I can definitely recommend First Aid. I have been using it for about a year and a half now, and it works beautifully. I always buy mine from Sephora. If you don't want a lot of makeup, tinted moisturizer or BB cream is the way to go. I used to be a makeup junkie but I never go anywhere these days (I work from home) so I don't bother lol. Laura Mercier and Tarte both have really good tinted moisturizers. (spf20 and spf30, respectively). The good thing about the Tarte is that it's a multi-tasker, and naturally matte, so no weird white face in photos. Also if you have a MAC counter near you, but they will color match you and work with you until you find a product that you like. (It's a stand alone store, not sure if that makes a difference.)

great recommendation on the Lisa Eldridge videos! Just watched one about her naturally flawless look. Thanks.

I had been using all sort of expensive brand cosmetic counter brands

I started using Cover Girl AquaSmooth cream to powder compact foundation and never been happier.

It goes on smooth and creamy and after a minute is totally dry. It lasts all day, has SPF and is less than $10

I can't believe so many of you have issues with UD products. I wear UD make up exclusively (will only wear cruelty free beauty products) and have never had any of the issues mentioned...other than an occasional eyeliner that doesn't want to come off. I especially love their primers and setting spray. I use De-Slick most of the time...

For me the UD foundation, powder irritated my skin and just wasn't the right coloring for me. I love their Naked 3 and the way they had the original eyeshadow primer, not a fan of the wand type thing they have now. I love and will swear by their setting spray in All Nighter

Go to youtube, there are so many videos on how to apply make-up.

Not looking for an application tutorial. I'm looking for a product.

I was so excited to try their eye liner after reading so many rave reviews. Went to Ulta, bought the waterproof one everybody said was soooo great, and have been miserable with it. It smudges and runs and I always have to wipe under my eyes throughout the day to get ride of the smudging. And it is nigh impossible to sharpen (at least with a normal makeup sharpener it is).

Oil of Olay is, well...oily, so I can see where that might be part of your problem.

Have you tried a tinted moisturizer, or a BB cream? A lot of them have some sort of sun protection built in, so it's just one thing to apply. I like Benefit's Big Easy. It's a liquid to powder foundation, so you get sort of a matte finish, and it does moisturize and control oil and is SPF 35. The coverage is good, but it's never heavy or cake-y. You can get it at Sephora or Ulta.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint is also a good all-in-one product.

Jennasis for a good eyeliner look at NYX, it doesn't always last as long but I've had less smudging with it. Also I've had good look with Sephora brand as well....also eyeshadow with the right brush can double as eyeliner.

I would highly recommend MAC...especially their Pro line.
