Makeup dilemma

I have 8 bridesmaids and then myself that need hair and makeup on the wedding day. I will be using Patricia LeJune(sp?) for my hair and makeup and for all of my bridesmaids hair, which I will be paying for. Most of my bridesmaids wanted to get their makeup done as well, but I just can't pay 60$ for makeup for them as well, so I have been searching for other options. I contacted Marlyn Wilkin and she got back to be for a quote of only 35 per person for makeup, no charge to come onsite, and a discount for the two younger girls who will not need as much makeup. My dilemma is whether or not I want to use two different vendors for hair and makeup. I really want the airbrush makeup which Patricia uses. I feel that this option will allow us to have more people doing hair and makeup, which will be less time waiting around and getting ready. Patricia only has so many assistants she can bring and I just feel this way would be alot smoother. On the other hand, I do not want to offend either of the vendors, but I simply cannot pay for Patricia's services for makeup for everyone, but can take care of it if we use this other vendor. I was also thinking of having a family member do everyone makeup, but that would consist of buying new colors for the girls who don't wear makeup and I would rather have a professional. I just feel this way would work out for everyone, because if we strictly go with Patricia's services, my bridesmaids will not be getting their makeup done. What does everyone think??

Personally, I am paying for my BM to get their hair done because I want them to have an updo. I gave them the option to get their makeup done at THEIR cost. HTH!!

I don't think Patricia would be offended - she seems to be really professional and easygoing (and it is saying something that you picked *her* to do *your* makeup).

But also, as Keira said, I don't think you're under any obligation to pay for your attendants' makeup or hair. It's nice when a bride can do it, but I've never expected (or received) it as a bridesmaid....

first of all, i don't think that you should feel obligated to do ANYTHING on your wedding day. i told my sister that i would do my own hair and make up for her wedding, but she really wants us to get our hair done...so i'm going to the mac counter with the other girls to get make up and a mini lesson so that she doesn't (or i don't) have to pay for make up.

i think that you should go with 2 vendors if you want. maybe the cost can be cut down if the girls come with their own foundation on and they just do colors/powder?

also, having more than one vendor with this amount of people is a must. if you only have patricia, even with 2 assistants, it's still going to take awhile...

I agree with the other posters. Perhaps your girls can pay for their own makeup if they want it? I think it is very kind of you to pay for their hair.

Thank you so much for all the advice! I don't feel obligated to pay for their makeup, however, I can afford to pay for their makeup if its only 35 per person and I think it would be nice to give to everyone as a gift since they are all traveling down to Disney for the entire week to spend with me. A few of my girls have mentioned that they want to get it done, whether they have to pay or not, and I think it will make the day especially special for the two younger girls who have never had anything like this. All my girls have very very different styles as well, and this way, it's one less thing they have to worry about and everyone will have very nice professional makeup. I think I am going to hire the two vendors! Should I speak with Patricia first and give her the option to do it? I just feel like she would be offended if I ask her to drop her prices from 60 to 35 and bring more people. I just feel it would be easier to hire an additional vendor to make it run smoother for everyone. Thanks for everyone advice!!

I'm paying for all my bridesmaids hair and make-up as two of them are my nieces and the third is a close friend. But if the older two girls do offer to pay I will take the money without thinking about it. One thing I will not pay for is my older niece to have her nails done as this is a personal choice.

I definitely agree on the time thing. I have booked Beaute Speciale and my ceremony is at 5pm. They are coming at 8:30 to get everyone started!!!! Not wanting to get up that early is one of the reasons we picked 5pm. I have myself and 4 bridesmaids getting hair and makeup done and my mom and FMIL getting just makeup. It has turned into an "I'm not going first" war.

are you serious??? My wedding is at noon and they said they're coming at 5am. I have myself, 4 bridesmaids, and one flower girl....all hair AND makeup. I wonder why they're coming so early for your wedding?
