Make me feel better....or worse

Not to be the pooper but what about kindergarten graduation? Kinda a big deal here in our county but normally I wouldn't stress about pulling them out of school.

Our elementary does not have a graduation, but if they did I would not want her to miss that.

We ran into the same problem with our kids. I misread the district calendar and realized the kids will be getting back only 2 days before school is out. We've already talked about it with the kindergarten teacher and she said the only thing he may miss out on is a literacy test (which he's sure to pass) and she can give it before he leaves for vacation. Our 6th grader is a slightly different issue only because one of his classes is heavily project based and the teacher hasn't decided whether the project will be due during that week or not.

I think they (and the school) will survive without that last week of school and tedium.

My son's school closed 2 days for swine flu last year (he was in Kindergarden) and added them at the end of the year. We had nothing planned for that time, so it wasn't a problem. The principal, however, did send home a note earlier in the month stating that if your children wouldn't be there those two days, to just send in a note explaining your vacation, etc. and it would not count against them.

This year, they have missed 3 days due to weather. However, we have a WDW trip planned the day he was supposed to get out, so he will be missing the make-up days. I would expect the same type of letter to come home in early May and I will be letting them know he won't be there.

FYI, even if your son misses a few days, there shouldn't be anything major planned on the make-up days. Kindergarden graduation, parties, etc. should happen before the make-up days (at least our school did) and they'll probably just spend the last several days reviewing and doing art projects like my son's class did. Have fun!

I would not worry even a little about pulling DD out. My parents used to pull us out all the time and all three of us always had good grades. Unless there is an actual school; plicy that would hold anyone back, put your family first.
