New Jersey DVC Members! Here's a call to action. Do you ever have "some" vacation points left that you can spare? How's pooling them to provide a vacation for a child and family who's wish it is to visit Disney? NJ Make A Wish Foundation each and evry year helps nearly 1,000 kids facing life threatening diagnoses enjoy a special wish. You guessed it. Most want to go to Disney World. If you're interested, please let me know. Maybe we can build a support group of DVC members willing to put a smile on the faces of special children.

I'd suggest contacting Disney Vacation Club first to see if you can gain their assistance (or at least complicity) in the matter. In the past there have been people who voiced willingness to donate a small number of unused of points to a charitable cause. The problem is DVC's limit of one transfer (out OR in) means there is no practical way to pool the points for use.

Unless you can get DVC to agree to allow a certain contract to accept unlimited transfers in, there's really no way to make this happen under the program's guidelines.

How about if each member is donating a night..that would work, wouldn't it?

PS. Also, from what I've learned from a past experience is that DVC or ordinary WDW units don't necessarily meet the needs of Make a Wish Families. Many need special facilities and stay in Give the Kids the World lodging.

OP - THANK YOU! For thinking about the MAW (Make a Wish) kids!

Disclaimer - I don't work for MAW or GKTW...but as a former wish tripper, I have kept the Wish Trippers Thread going in 09.

If you want more info about MAW, wish trips, Give Kids the World, etc...you can check out the blue link in my siggie...there are a LOT of DISer families writing wish trip reports, etc, on the DIS!

We do occasionally have families that are able to extend their wish trips by a day or so and need a place to stay. Many choose to stay at a value resort or even offsite (although I recommend staying on property to keep the magic going as long as they can).

During the official wish trip dates, the families have accommodations, but some of our families have been offered and gratefully taken points to rent a Studio for a night or two at the end of their trip.

Some of those families do require handicapped rooms, but most DVC resorts do offer these accommodations.

If you are interested in donating...you may PM me and I can match you with one of our wish trip DISer families that has already said that they wish to extend. We are also often aware of special situations where a family may really need the pixie dust!

Now...I must go and research SSR!! :) Sorry to hijack this thread! It just grabbed my attention! :)
