My daughter Bridget was granted her Make a wish, a trip to Disneyland in CA, with her best friend. She is 15 now. She asked to go in August 2008. Only I am going (mom) Bridget, and the friend. She has 3 older brothers, so they are out (18, 20, almost 22). My husband needs to stay home to care for our handicapped 18 year old, so they allowed us to take a friend. Bridget is SO excited about this, and it sounds good to me, too. I have not been to DL since college, about 28 years ago? (is that even possible? Now I feel old!)

I know WDW has the Village to use for Wish Kids, does anyone know where do they put the DL Wish kids? I know there are alot of offsite hotels that are closeby. They said we will get the dates in May or something. We are in NJ, so she is very excited about going all the way to California.

I'm sorry I can't answer any of your questions - haven't been to DL since '92. But, I just want to wish you and your daughter a wonderful trip! We just got back from WDW for my daughter's MAW trip. All of you will have a magical time - I know we did!:wizard:

I can't answer your question for sure but I'd imagine that they'd put you up onsite as that's where Wish families going to WDW stay if GKTW is full during their vacation.

Have a wonderful trip and feel free to join other Wish families in our "Wish Families...Unite" thread. (link in my siggie).

Pat- I can't remember if I sent you this in an email or not but I have a friend whose teen daughter also had a MAW trip to Disneyland. They stayed in a village also similar to GKTW that is for DL wish kids and their families only. I don't know much about it though- maybe the wish coordinator could provide information.---Kathy

My son is also considering a MAW trip to Disneyland. He really wants to go on a Disney Cruise, but I've heard some chapters won't do cruises anymore. Hopefully, that won't be the case for him. Anyway, he is coming up with an alternative, just in case. We have been to DL several times and absolutely love it there- it has always been our escape from reality. I thought he'd want to go to WDW since we've never been there. Nope- he's not interested at all. Even though he is 9, he is very nervous about new things. If he can't do a cruise, he wants to do DL. You don't read nearly as much about MAW with DL. Are they as magical as the trips to WDW? Is there a wish lounge? I just want the trip to be special and not just seem like one of our other family trips to DL- our family trips are wonderful, I just want his MAW trip to be "extra" wonderful!

Well, I did read that they have a wish lounge.

We will get details in a coiple of months, like dates. I wish I had the dates, because it is hard to leave the entire month of August "open". I am afraid to plan anything for that month.

I am just curious, and excited for her. She is pretty sick right now, so I am glad she pushed the dates out to the end of the summer. (while some things are better, she is having new issues, we just can't seem to get her stable enough to attend school for example. Nothing life threatening currently, but daily vomiting is awful enough/ testing for cause is ongoing)

Pat- I've been thinking alot about Bridget and had planned to send you an email to see how she's doing. I'm so sorry to hear things are still so tough. Even without daily vomiting ( how horrible) it's tough to be a teen and out of school/away from friends. I'm really glad you have this trip to look forward to which will seem even more "real" when you have the dates.---Kathy

just sending :grouphug:
We don't get a lot of info about DisneyLAND or MAW trips there, but once you have more details, please post to help out other people.

I promise to post all about the Make a Wish experience to Disneyland in California, once we learn more. I will also post after the trip in August.

Pat- with all the complications I sure hope Bridget is feeling well enough for her August trip. I know MAW could reschedule but I'm also sure she's been looking forward to this for a long time. Keeping her in my thoughts and prayers, as always...Kathy

Hi Pat,

Sending prayers and good thoughts for Bridget (and your family).

I am sorry to hear she is not feeling well right now/at this time. My heart goes out to you guys.

Hang in there~

My daughter also picked DL for her wish trip and the paperwork was all filled out last week , the volunteers came out and brought all the MAW t-shirts and all but nothing has been said to us yet about the trip , I am assuming it will be soon.
