Hi all, If you are on my Facebook list you already know about out major flooding that occurred here today. I work at the University of Louisville and our campus as well as Historic Churchill Downs is underwater from 6" inches of rain that fell this morning in about an 1 hour time period that overwelmed the sewer system. The flooding was severe, the Main branch of the Library in Downtown Louisville lost thousands of books. On UofL Campus, Fire Department had to rescue people by Boat as one building was totally cut off by the high waters.

Pictures of the flooding can been seen on almost all major news networks. The follow link has a picture of my parking area on campus, My brand new car is in picture #5 at the very bottom of the picture. This picture was taken after about 1 ft of water had receded. At the highest point, it was up to the lower edge of the door frame. My office building on campus flooded, but was relatively minor compared to what I heard about other buildings on campus.

My parents are arriving tomorrow for the big car show at the fairgrounds by Six Flags. Is that in the affected area? I'll call them later, if so. Also, is it receding pretty quickly?

TIA!

Oh Tracey, that's just awful.....flood damage just always seems dreadful, you're stuck for weeks/months cleaning up - I'm so sorry....

Water is receding slowly. The entire area was hit hard. I am sure there was flooding at the Fair Grounds as it is only two miles from UofL and a mile from Churchill Downs and both areas were hard hit by flooding. There is more rain coming in late tonight. I know the Car Show is a big deal for the city, they will do what they can to get everything ready. Just let your parents know to try to find a High Ground parking space for their Hot Rod as we have more rain in the forecast for the rest of the week.

Sorry to hear your news. I hope recovery is swift. : )

Here are pictures of my Car under water. I am waiting for the Insurance Adjuster to call and tell me what the next step will be. I did go and look at the car last night after the water receded, and based on the water line marks there may have been as much as 1 ft of water in the interior of the car. :sad1:

The flooding rain hit between 8 am and 9:30 am, dropping over 6" in that time period. These photos were taken at 1:30 pm, at this time the water had receded less than 1 ft. from the Overpass overlooking the flooded parking lots and area streets.

Stay safe Tracey. My aunt and uncle are in Louisville on business and my aunt called yesterday saying how awful it was. The power was out, she was calling from her very dark hotel room. She said the rain was torrential.

Oh Tracey that is so so terrible.

I saw the storms moving across Kentucky on the Weather channel yesterday and then saw the aftermath on the news this morning.

I hope the insurance adjuster gets to you quickly.

Take care & stay safe

Car has been towed to the Dealership for Assessment for the Insurance Company. Now I have to wait to see if they are going to Total it.
