the east coast will have some severe weather next week..just in time for Thanksgiving :(

report from www.accuweather.com

by AccuWeather.com Sr. Meteorologist Henry Margusity

The implications of Gamma for the East coast of United States are major. While, we do not expect Gamma will have tropical characteristics after leaving southern Florida, the moisture and energy will be entrained into a major storm. That storm may bring heavy rains and gales to the mid-Atlantic and New England coast and heavy snows to the Appalachians from the Carolinas to new England.Over a foot of snow is possible above 2000 feet. Even the major cities from Washigton to Boston could have snow at the tail end of the storm.

Story by AccuWeather.com expert senior meteorologist John Kocet

Is this a trend-setter for the upcoming winter? It very well could be. Quite frankly, if this were the middle of winter, we would be talking about an eastern blizzard. No doubt, a big storm is going to swirl up the Atlantic Seaboard early next week. Thursday, the AccuWeather.com forecasting staff was viewing it as a 50-50 sort of thing, since there seemed to be an equal chance the storm would turn out to sea. Friday, the odds shifted strongly in favor of the storm coming right up the coast Monday and Tuesday. The result will be heavy rain, gales on the coast and perhaps snow in the Appalachian Mountains. This large upheaval in the atmosphere will have major impact on the flow across all of North America. Of great significance will be the release of an extremely cold air mass from arctic regions. That air will charge southward in the wake of the storm later in the week, producing one of the coldest ends to November in many years.

Hallo? Did they not get the memo that we are flying North to Boston on Tuesday? THis will not make me happy!!! Cant it wait until we actually get there....

Doing my good travel weather dance... :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Bonus! I was planning on driving to Upstate NY from coastal ME after I finish my exam Tuesday afternoon. I always so enjoy the trip through MA even under the best of conditions(which the trip back to ME on Sunday certainly will not be). Oh well, if it's too nasty I'll just wait until Weds when at least the whole trip would be in the daylight.

I don't want snow!!, I don't want snow!!, I don't want snow!!
(Saying this while stamping her feet!!)

I just watched the weather and they're only calling for flurries here in the Washington DC area. I wouldn't mind some light snow on Thanksgiving, but not on Black Friday! It's my DH and my annual shopping date. We get up early, bring our coffee, do enough shopping that the kids don't complain, and eat breakfast out.

Oh my , this is the first I hear of this!

To go from the mild weather we've had to this is quite a shock to the system!

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Got my studded snows put on today, got the girls new boots and snowpants.

Bring it baby, this is why we live in Vermont!

Apparently my local weatherman missed the memo because he didn't say a thing about it tonight.

Well at least our weather on Long Island for monday is "Monday (24 hours): A mainly sunny sky. Highs in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 40s." which is good sice I need to get my christmas lights up that day!

Ugh, my DH has to drive back to NJ next Saturday or Sunday...hmmm...maybe he'll just have to stay an extra day or two :)

Look at it on the bright side, if everyone on the east coast gets snowed in on Thanksgiving AFTER all the inlaws have arrived, you could have a huge sleepover party!!!

Nothing like being stuck in the house with the inlaws and extended family a few extra days!!! :earseek:
