Anyone have Major Domo? If so, what song did you use for his entrance?

Thanks for the help!

Noochez, I didn't use Major Domo but hopefully someone who did will see this thread and post a response.

In the meantime, talk to the FTW folks and ask them what songs are normally played for his arrival. I'm sure they'll have a list of songs to share with you. But remember that it is your event, and if you have a particular song in mind, you should request it. ;)

I was just told he enters to when you wish upon a star - it was very nice...and um since we played the joke (hahaha) I think my brother in law was absolutely wishin' hahaha

Janet2k - Thanks, I will eventually ask my coordinator, but I have gotten so many wonderful ideas from all of the DIS Brides, I thought I would start here.

allisonswonderland - Thanks, we are playing "the joke" as well. My pour fbil, that will not be the first time we have played a joke on him with regards to the wedding. We actually told him that the groomsmen were going to dress up as the Seven Dwarfs, and that we were going to give him first choice. He actually believed us!! His mom finally told him we were just joking!

Ours was really great b/c His brother is the king of practical jokers - he has played jokes on EVERY member of their family, so this was perfect. And he was really sweating it. It was really funny, because Josh's cousin was the minister and he had a joke or 2 played on him, so he did a great job and kept saying John YOU are the best man WHERE are the rings hahahaha. I will tell you this, if you go w. Disney Video - make sure that you ask you EM to let you speak to the video ppl prior to b/c they panned away from John and went to Domo's entrance so they really missed his reaction, which was disappointing. I spoke with video about this and they said they would be willing to talk to brides before.

Where does Major Domo enter from if you're at YCG? How long does he stay, and what does he actually do? :)

I can't answer for where he enters from YCG, I would assume he comes "down the aisle" just as you enter, but not sure as I'm getting married at the Pavilion and know he enters up the aisle.

I was told he enters with the rings, and then after the wedding and staged exit he announces the cocktail hour, then the reception, then he announces the 2 of you at the reception.

That is correct, but I am not sure either about the YCG- I would assume it would be the same, though it would be harder to keep him a secret.

Noochez, gotcha. :thumbsup2 I can't think of a better reason.

Allisonswonderland, since you used the Major Domo, do you have any photos to share of him from your FTW?

My hubby and I had a Major Domo in our ceremony as well. We went with "When You Wish Upon a Star." It couldn't have been more perfect!

He escorted my flowergirl out....he walked over and held out his hand and told her "I work for Cinderella" - and she hopped up and went with him.

These are what I have at work-

I loved the photos, Allisonswonderland, thanks for posting them. And I just LOVED Major Domo's line. Too freakin' funny!

By the way, I wonder how that line would go over with an adult bridesmaid: "I work for Cinderella. Wanna see the Royal Bedchamber?" :lmao:

I don't get it... what's the joke? I'm sure I'll be kicking myself when you tell me.:headache:

It can be played a couple of ways, but basically it is as follows:

The FTW couple pays for the Major Domo to be a part of their FTW event. Prior to their wedding ceremony, the groom has to somehow get the wedding rings away from the Best Man -- without the Best Man knowing about this. (Note: This can be handled a couple of different ways. Either outright stealing the rings from the Best Man or telling him to give the rings to someone else -- and during the ceremony you still have the Officiant ask the Best Man for the rings.)

During the wedding ceremony, the Officiant asks the Best Man for the wedding rings but the Best Man doesn't have them. A look of sheer panic comes over the Best Man's face. "YIKES! WHERE ARE THE RINGS?"

After a few moments, the back doors of the Wedding Pavilion magically open to reveal the Major Domo standing there. He begins walking down the aisle towards the bride and groom. He is carrying a pillow and atop it sits a glass slipper that contains the "missing" wedding rings. The crowd erupts in laughter. It makes for some cute video & photos.

But be warned that it can backfire. If your Best Man is shy and doesn't like being the center of attention, this might not be the best trick to play on him. Think it over carefully and consider his feelings.

By the way, this trick can also be played on the Maid/Matron of Honor. A bit of a role reversal on wedding tradition. If the Maid/Matron of Honor thrives on attention, perhaps this would be a better route to take.

we did just a slight variation

we told the best man about it, so he was in on it. he went along with everything for a bit, acting like it was our fault kinda for not giving him the rings, so at that point all the guests were nervous and probablt thinking "that figures all this planning for a destination wedding and they forgot the rings"

it was pretty funny

Sjdisneywedding, that does sound funny! I bet your video is adorable.

WE had my MOH in on it - Josh's brother is a HUGE joker....and of course he was trying to pin it on the MOH, who my EM told him had the rings.

My uncles was even nudging my aunt telling her to take off her ring - that was sweet, but she knew too.
