Major DLR Entertainment Cuts

Dreams, wouldn't they open the back ways if that was the case? How else would they get people in and out if they don't have MS open? Am I missing something? I thought MS was the only in/out path?...

Good question! I would imagine people will enter the Main Gate and be limited to the sidewalks if the "road" is being repaved at reported here. :confused3 No clue about opening back ways or anything. I guess we will have to wait to see.

In regard to the fireworks, I was just thinking about all the 1000s of people that are on Main Street during that time and that if the "road" is blocked off, there just wouldn't be enough room for everyone.

But your question is a really good one!

I guess I just dont see why people feel they are owed a calendar 3 months out. Is it nice that disney has done this in the past? Heck yes it is! But are they required to...probably not. I think it's been a thing that disney has done to help their guests in the past with planning however I do not believe it is madatory.

January is less than 3 days away. Your post reminds me of the thread in which you and others were complaining just a few days ago about the AP newsletter coming out so late that you couldn't take advantage of the special discounts. They aren't required to get the newsletter out, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to take advantage of the perks that you paid for when you bought your AP? Otherwise, whats the point? It's almost the exact same thing. And planning a trip isn't a perk. It's part of the process. If there's one thing Disney knows and understands it's processes. That's why they should fix their broken calendar and get the AP newsletter out earlier. Otherwise, what's the point of having it?:confused3

Have a good trip! We have a few more weeks to go. We never plan exactly what we're doing either. We just know which days we'll be in the parks. And we know we'll go straight to Space Mountain when we get there (because that's what we always do.)

Thanks Lucy, you guys have fun too!!! We like to make plans for meals when we are with the kids but when it's just the adults we do it all really low key. I asked DBF last night if he wanted to do any meals other than BB and he said "Nope, you got it covered baby" LOL :) It's just fun to go and not worry about things. Altho I wasn't 100% honest when I said we had no plans, we do want to ride IASWH and HMH before closing on the 4th. :)

Well, I will be there next week so I will post what I experience. I'm guessing that they will have section of MS closed off at a time but I don't know.....

Thank you for posting this thread. I appreciate any and all info related to planning since the DL calendar has been pretty useless lately.

It has but I am just going with the flow here so I'm not too worried about it not being up. When we get there we will get a daily schedule and that should have everything on it. :) I understand the frustration tho, if they are going to offer those features they should have them functioning.

glad everyone can go with the flow...have great trips. FWIW I am routinely disappointed with DLR's calendar, especially when compared to WDW. I don't feel entitled to it....but why bother having it if you don't keep UTD at least 90 days out?

ok, I'll be a complainer and chime in! :goodvibes I understand that Disney has to do refurbs etc, but my problem is all the last-minute changes. We knew going in that Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World would be closed in mid-Jan, but over the past two weeks, we've lost fireworks, park hours, dining reservations (due to earlier park closures), and possibly Princess Fantasy Faire. This is a one-time trip for us (coming from east coast), and it is disappointing to find so much closed. Yes, I know it is the off-season, but we really are losing a lot, with much of it being announced at a pretty late date (and with three weeks to go, who knows how much else). I will give them kudos if they are in fact keeping Fantasmic open more nights, although that has little appeal to us (our kids were beyond terrified when we saw it at WDW). But I recognize it as a positive step to offset some of what they are shutting down.

On fireworks, I don't get how they can do them for some weekends, but not for others (does pavement not sag during holiday weekends), but that's just me griping.

What dates will you be there? We'll be there January 21st, 22nd, 25th.

We arrive on the 21st at Grand Californian, and depart the 26th (spending a few days in San Diego and Legoland before heading up to Anaheim on the 21st). We'll enjoy three days of park visits somewhere in there, but not sure which days yet (we'd originally scheduled some days around weekend-only activities like fireworks, but since that is not relevant we may be a bit more flexible depending on what else we want to do in LA!).

How funny...we get to anaheim on the 21st and leave the 26th too. We're staying offsite though. I'm jealous of you guys!

Ethan'sdad, I don't blame you at all for feeling frustrated with the last minute changes. It never made sense to me how one day things were on the calendar and then the next day it was gone. :confused3 You're right, the pavement would sag whether it was a holiday weekend or a regular weekend. :goodvibes

I sent an email to disney asking about Fantasmic and Aladdin during January. I was actually really impressed with the response, very detailed!! they could have just said yes, check the daily entertainment guide...so i thought i would share this info with all of you (sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere)
