I've been talking up MVMCP and Osbourne Lights for so long to DH figuring he'd be willing to sacrifice a week of my pay so we could go in a year or two (I teach, but prefer not to go during Christmas week). Anyway, yesterday he says he thinks we could fit it in the weekend of December 14th. Well, after a bit of research I think I can pull it off for around $1200 (we have AP's). BUT I have always been a huge planner and less than 10 days notice is a huge problem for me. Usually we keep one another grounded, but we tend to always want more Disney! If I tell him about the price he'll be ready to pack--I think I'd rather wait a year or two and have it all planned out nicely (dinners, CP, etc.) Should I jump on this or wait and plan it to be as wonderful as possible? I'd hate to take a few days off with no pay and come back wishing I had waited so that I could have enjoyed it more.

No time like the present is what I say! We have three small daughters so I plan very generally, like what park I'd like to be at each day, and leave the rest to chance. We have had such a good time doing it this way. Before we were married, we were theme park commandos, EE, PS's, etc., but now that we've slowed down the pace a bit, we actually enjoy WDW even more. We still try to get there at opening and each of us know what we absolutely must do, but after that we just see where the day takes us. It's actually quite liberating and fun. A lot could happen in a year or two that might prevent another trip or make it less of a priority. I would go now.

I say go for it! Sometimes the last minute vacations turn out to be the best one's ever. Work will always be there...but we don't always get an opportunity to spend a few days at Disney World. Have you ever been there over the holidays, to see all the decorations?? It is just wonderful, I remember it like it was yesterday. Can I go?

I agree with tinaluis & robinlyn... Go for it Patsal!
I know you are DVC like us - which requires planning - but last year, my DH & I threw together a 'last minute' trip and it was so much fun! GO FOR IT!

This will be our 2nd trip in December to see all of the decorations (+ Osborne Lights) - they really are breathtaking. Last year we took an afternoon to check out the decorations at some of the other resorts around WDW.. they are all AMAZING!

I'm sure MVMCP will be a blast... this will be our 1st time (on Saturday)!

I planned my trip last month in 2 weeks. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Go when you get the chance.

I'd rather wait a year or two and have it all planned out

Thats nice and stuff but I say go now and wing it you never know what can happen in a year or two.

If you go have fun :D

You have the money. You have the time. And, you have it now.

Don't wait. You have no idea what the future may bring. Take advantage of this opportunity and have a little spontaneous fun!

patsal,
You are so funny--come to the Disboard and ask if you should go to WDW-hee hee hee. Of course you should go (you lucky duck)!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Since you are a great planner, I think you have plenty of time to pull it together. You MUST go! And then, you can plan for a bigger Christmas Festivities trip in another year or two (I would say next year--who could wait two years after seeing all the wonderful things there are to see?)

How many nights will you have? We have done the weekend trip several times before, but from where we come (and not wanting DS to miss school) it is a stretch to plan more than just Saturday night on the festivities. Last year, I drove my family nuts trying to fit in Osborne Lights and CP on Saturday night--when it was all said and done, I was only able to get the limited edition pins from Osborne before we had to go over to EPCOT and be seated for our CP performance/dinner (we had the dining package).

This year, I was determined that we would do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for the first time--on Nov 1st (a Friday night, last party of the year)--we ended up taking DS out of school around 11:00am to catch a flight at 2:00PM and with rental cars and check in--we just made it to our PS at 6pm at Liberty Tree Tavern and perfectly in place for the 7pm MNSSHP--we were really lucky on the timing. (Heatbreaking side note--our flight was oversold and they were taking volunteers to take a later flight arriving in Orlando at 9:30pm offerring $450.00per person plus first class upgrades on the later flight--but of course, we couldn't miss our party!)

Anyway--I say, go for it!!! Don't let this wonderful opportunity pass you by.

RUN, don't walk!! Never say no to a Disney trip. We booked our last trip (2 weeks ago) on Saturday, told the girls on Sunday and left Tuesday! It was great!

Go, Go, Go!!!!!!!!!!!

You will have the best time!!! I think the last minute planning will just make it more fun. Go for it, we're here to help you!!!!

SEAWITCH, I will be there on Saturday too. What resort are you staying at? I will be at BCV. Hope to see someone there.

Carpe diem! Live life on the edge! Go to WDW without PS made 60 - 120 days out. Not to be a pessimist, but many things can happen in a year, so enjoy the opportunity to be spontaneous. I don't want to sound of gloom and doom, but there's no guarantee you'll both be around next year or have the good health for this trip. We tend to take life for granted, but it can be cut short or radically change at any time. So much of life's best moments are unplanned. I love to plan, too, but try something different. Even if you regret going without the big plan, you can make big plans and take another trip later. If you pass this by, though, you can't turn back the clock. go Go GO!!

I say go now. You never know what can happen. You only live once go for it. I almost never plan a trip no more in a week advance. Somtimes I don't even plan a trip the night before and go. But that just me and my family. Once I found out about codes and I save money at Disney I learned how plan. So I can use codes.

Go forward. I bet Disney is beautiful at Christmas.:D

Go forward it
