on a budget, was on line looking at this and it's pretty cheap.

please post or PM me honest opinions on it if you've btdt. Or, any better ideas, same price? Is it near DTD?

really want to be close to it all. THANKS

This is the old Best Western Lakeside. It is not near DTD. It is on Irlo Bronson Hwy (192) right near the Sherbeth Rd back way to the parks. Black Lake Rd runs right behind the hotel and dead ends on Sherbeth. Take a left and head to the light. That is Osceola Parkway. At the light, a left takes you to Animal Kingdom Lodge, right takes you to everywhere else (AK park is right behind the trees in front of you really).

If you search for reviews on Best Western Lakeside, you should find a lot. I recall awhile back it was coming up on Priceline and Hotwire a lot for cheap, so a lot of people were booking it.

I've never stayed there, but I have stayed behind it at Silver Lake Resort. It is a very convenient location to the parks if you have a car. There is a grocery store, a Target and Walgreens right down the street, and lots of eating places.

Stayed there once about 2 years ago just before it stopped being a Best Western. Great location, older place with some renovations in the past 10 years. Safe area of town. We got a good rate via hotels.com when we stayed there. It is simply a place to sleep and shower.

The reason we only stayed once is because we stay at a place down the street that is not in quite as nice shape for dirt cheap rates during "sales".

Since we are AP holders and visit WDW 5-6 times a year we have to be cheap in order visit without breaking the bank!

I'm in the same position as the PP,have an AP and visit the parks 8-12 times a year so we use Hotwire,Travelocity secret hotels a lot when booking rooms.I stayed at this hotel last year for the cheapest price I had ever gotten on any of these sites,$22 so I was worried how the hotel would be,surprisingly even though it's an older property it was clean, the A/ C was cold and I had no problems with the room. The only negatives are the hotel had no free breakfast which I usually try to get when I book my rooms and that the hotel charges a resort fee on top of the $22 per night so in the end it does come out a bit more expensive, still pretty cheap and since the room was fine overall it was a good stay. You can take Sherberth rd and be in Osceola pkwy by AK in 5 minutes,to get to DTD would be another 5-10 minutes on Osceola and jumping over to Buena Vista dr by Victory way.Since I stayed at a Disney resort for the marathon I went cheap again for my next trip in March and ended up getting Maingate Lakeside again.

I hate to see anyone from the budget board pay a large resort fee, so here is where we frequently stay for cheap (27-35 bucks when I catch it on sale).

The Continental Plaza Hotel Kissimmee. It is the hotel adjacent to the MainGate Lakeside Resort. For the past year or two I have paid zero resort fees when I booked through hotels.com.

Remember, the place is older and not pristine. It is simply a safe place to sleep and shower.

If MLR gets a B minus for overall experience, then the Continental Plaza hotel gets a C plus/B minus. But considering the low price, it represents a great value.
