I have to say I don't know the gritty details. On the face of it, it seems that way.I don’t. Disney has not been punished by the government due to their speech.

Yes. One independent oversight board was replaced by another independent oversight board. How has Disney been punished?Have you not been following the dissolution of Reedy Creek?
Polls have consistently shown that the majority of Americans favor common sense gun regulation. Of course, it is the members of Congress that make the decisions and some of them don’t truly represent the will of the people. Too many of them allow outside influences and the desire for political power to deflect from their duty to the constituents who elected them. Gerrymandering plays into it as well. I’m sure you know all of this…What Americans agree with is irrelevant, until enough of them agree to amend the constitution.
Nope, not going to address that topic. I will acknowledge that the gun violence issue is complex and gun control alone will not resolve all the problems. I realize that mental health so often plays into it, and see many gun owners who want to place the focus on mental health issues, yet many like-minded legislators are the same ones who repeatedly vote down funding for mental health services.Re the slaughter of innocent victims, we both agree that it is abhorrent. I don't want to open Pandora's can of worms, but many feel exactly the same way about the killing of unborn children, yet that is on the other side of the political spectrum.
Not always.Isn’t exposure to other experiences a good thing?
Their control of their own concerns, in place for over half a century, was taken away from them against their wishes.Yes. One independent oversight board was replaced by another independent oversight board. How has Disney been punished?
No, it wasn’t. They have as much control over their concerns as any other corporation in this country.Their control of their own concerns, in place for over half a century, was taken away from them against their wishes.
It takes more than a simple majority to amend the constitution. In this way the numerical minority in the United States probably has more power than anywhere else in the world. This is intentional and not a bad thing.Polls have consistently shown that the majority of Americans favor common sense gun regulation. But didn't Disney's situation get worse after the "Don't Say Gay" comments compared to before? No, it wasn’t. They have as much control over their concerns as any other corporation in this country.
It’s not about what they have in relation to other corporations. It’s about what was taken from them. Surely you understand (but clearly you don’t agree with) the injustice of this. No, it wasn’t. They have as much control over their concerns as any other corporation in this country.
I'd honestly rather kids stay innocent for as long as possible, and not be exposed to all the crazy *** things that we adults do. Just be kind, that's enough. Why not teach both? Isn’t exposure to other experiences a good thing?
Ignoring or consciously withholding realities and history is how history gets banned from school curricula.
They were indeed "retaliated" against by the Florida government. In the end, it didn't ultimately get passed or basically the governor had to quietly back off and water it down, I guess absolves them of something. That was a perfect example of a corporation (and it could have been a person also), saying something that the local government did not like and then the government mobilized against them to take their special improvement district status away based exactly on their speech. Consumers absolutely had a right to stop going to Disney if they didn't like Disney's speech. My understanding of the First Amendment is that the Florida legislature was way out of bounds in mobilizing a punitive action against them because someone got mad at being disagreed with. But didn't Disney's situation get worse after the "Don't Say Gay" comments compared to before?
But simply “being kind” as a cure-all is a crutch. Unless you also agree that it translates to treating everyone with dignity and respect.I'd honestly rather kids stay innocent for as long as possible, and not be exposed to all the crazy *** things that we adults do. Just be kind, that's enough.
Absolutely agree, and I think for little kids, that's enoughBut simply “being kind” as a cure-all is a crutch. Unless you also agree that it translates to treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Kids are smarter than we give them credit for. Think of yourself at that age.Absolutely agree, and I think for little kids, that's enough
Especially those that already have unrestricted/unmonitored cellphones ... that ship has sailed and came back already...Kids are smarter than we give them credit for. Think of yourself at that age.
Yep, I agree, very smart.Kids are smarter than we give them credit for. Think of yourself at that age.
I’d be really interested in hearing about these laws, because nothing I’ve heard proposed would be both constitutional and help solve the problem.
Some people claim that. But didn't Disney's situation get worse after the "Don't Say Gay" comments compared to before?
It’s not an opinion. Some people claim that.
Again, every one that I’ve heard would be unconstitutional or ineffective. Feel free to propose something that wouldn’t.Oh I bet you’ve heard of them, but would have an argument for whatever I say.
