Carl (the nephew, turning 7 at WDW, 1st trip to WDW)
Dates – Nov 11-17, 2000
Resort – Dixie Landings

Day 5 – We slept in and got under way slowly. It was a nice cool day, about 70 degrees so what better day to do World Showcase. We skip breakfast, knowing that we will be partaking in the Food & Wine Festival and head right to the bus for Epcot.

We get there just about 11:00, the walk from the bus is a pleasant one. When we get there fountain in shooting up in time to the music. Carl thinks this is great and stands there “conducting” the fountain. When that finishes, we head to WS. We get there just in time to see the character bus. But, they are getting back on so we will have to catch it later. Darla stops at one of the stores and buys Carl the Sorcerer’s Apprentice hats that he has been eyeing all week. Very nice, but he is supposed to be spending his own money, not ours.

Then it’s off to our first food stop. We are going around the world Clockwise, so we hit Switzerland first. The chocolate Fondue is wonderful, it gets a big thumbs up from all of us. Next, it’s on to Mexico for the boat ride. It was nice, once. I wouldn’t care if I did it again on not. After the boat ride we stop at the Food booth in Mexico to try watermelon water. Tia liked it, Darla and Carl did not. Then we head towards Norway. On the way Darla stops at the Margarita booth for a strawberry Margarita. But, too bad, the cash register is not working. Margarita on the house. Oh the pain. Next it’s a stop for beef stroganoff at the Russian booth. We share a bowl of that and it’s a hit with everybody. After this snack, it’s on to the boat ride in Norway. Much better than the one in Mexico. We skipped the movie (the doors hadn’t closed yet so we just walked through). Darla wants to shop, so Tia and Carl go to the pastry shop. We share a Schoolbread. It was very tasty, a sweet bread w/ vanilla custard inside and coconut on top. When Darla finally joins us we head towards China & Germany. We don’t eat in China but try the Sugar Cane Chicken in the African Outpost area. It’s pretty good, but will bite you back a little. Then it’s on to the shops in Germany. Carl picks out a miniature for Tia to put in her dollhouse. While Tia has a big pretzel, Carl does the Kidcot stop and makes a mask. We get done and head to Italy just before the character bus.

Thanks for the wonderful report. I loved hearing about the Food and Wine Festival. I think I'll have to go over to the recipe and scrapbook board for some of those recipes. :)

Thanks for sharing your trip.

Lisa :)
