I'm working on my touring plans for a Sunday morning. We have ADR at BOG for 8:15 so we can head straight to Peter Pan. Will get a FP+ for SDMT. There are a few other things we want to do but having a hard time fitting everything in before noon. Since we'll be back in Fantasyland, we could take the train to Main Street and hop on a vehicle and head back to Fantasyland.

We want to ride one of the vehicles down main street. Just looks cool. My daughter will be turning 9 that day. I'm sure we'll go go Disney again in a couple of years but I was wondering if this is one of those things that we should do before she gets older.

If so, I'll fit it in. We took her for the first time last year and loved it. But there were a few things we didn't get to do that we want to do this time.

Can you catch one at the castle and head back toward the Firehouse or do they all go from the entrance toward the castle?

Not knowing if the Fairy Godmother will be there is making planning difficult.

What do you think? Is this one of your go-to activities?

IMHO its not a "must do". But it is fun so don't pass up the opportunity.

And yes, you can grab one of the horse drawn trolleys near the castle and ride it back to the train station.
Many times the Dapper Dan's have jumped on and serenaded us enough route and once they even sang happy birthday to me when they noticed my button!
Look too for the mayor of Main Street!

We've done it once- they actually asked us and we just said Yes. We had fun and the CM's were so nice!! It felt very nostalgic, even though we had never ridden one before. It's not on our list of must-do's, but we were glad we did it.

My kids love it, particularly the horse drawn trolley. Over the years, we've gotten to know the names of the horses that pull the trolley. Fritz is their favorite. We have some great pictures with them.

Thanks. We will make it work. If we can get one at the castle, that might make it work. I know my fellow planners here will feel my pain.

I'm a total car nut. For me, it's not a "top 10" or a complete, can't miss "must do", but it's fun. I wouldn't wait in a line for it, but if one is empty we'll hop on it. As mom2rtk said, it's a great way to soak in the atmosphere and the CMs are wonderful.

Hijacking here a little bit...hope that's okay. I have heard of the vehicles but have really paid little attention to them. Do they run all day long and do you just approach and ask for a ride? If we have a stroller can it be folded up and fit into the vehicle?

In the past, they have sitting in the Main Street circle. You just walk up and get in to your vehicle of choice. A folding stroller should be fine. They do not run all day long. I think they are there the first hour after opening, but we had some trips were we had to wait a few minutes after the opening show for them to arrive.

What I don't know, since we last went in December, and don't go again until May, is how the new park opening process affects their availability. Are they there during the pre-opening time before the castle show, or after? Maybe someone who has been since the new opening can comment.

The touring plans app says they are only there until noon.

They disappear when Main St. becomes too crowded.
(Dangerous for guests walking in the street.)
"Noon" is a good time to figure, give or take.

In all of our years going we must have been in such a hurry to get somewhere or to leave that we've never ridden one. Riding a Main St vehicle and seeing the glassblower is on my list of never done before for May.

My wife and I were at WDW and MK a month ago and were standing in the hub just when the Dans boarded the empty horse trolley.
We ran over and asked if we could ride.
They all said, "Come on in!" and the driver started the trip to Town Square.
My wife and I were the only guests aboard, and were the sole audience as the Dans performed just for us!
We talked with them after the song and discussed their appearance at our Kansas City Barbershop Quartet
concert a year, or so, ago (which we attended.)

Disney fun!

Where does this happen?! Our kids would love this. Is it a regularly scheduled thing?

Once they show up in Main Street, they just go back and forth from the Main Street hub area to the castle hub area. They wait a few minutes at each spot before they take off again. I agree with the PP's. The Dapper Dan's make the horse trolley ride so great! A couple of years ago, they kept asking my kids (we were the only family riding) for requests.

Yes,they make "One Way" trips from Town Square to the Castle and from the Castle to Town Square.

Riding the Omnibus on the top deck in the front seats is the best ride by far-gives a completely different view of Main Street USA-AWESOME experience!!!!:)

We rode the double decker trolley recently. We just happen to be coming out of Tony's and needed to get to FL. The trolley was right there with room for us! We got to ride up top. It was such a great view. Got a nice look at the windows on the second floor of main st. People were smiling and waving at us. It was so neat! It dropped us off right in front of the castle where I got a great picture. Would I wait around for it? Probably not but it was a great impromptu moment.
