In October we had a pre-park opening ADR and when we entered they were asking if anyone wanted a ride to CP or CRT. Just ask or keep your ears open!

As far as I know, they still have the Main Street vehicles. They're still listed on DisneyWorld.com:

They do stop running before the afternoon parade and they don't always re-appear, so be sure to ride them in the morning if they're on your "to do" list.

There are "stations" at each end of Main Street. Just line up (or wait if there is no line) by the sign for the vehicle you want. When it arrives let the folks on it get off and then board.

Boarding is at Town Square (flagpole area) end of Main Street and at the Castle Hub end of Main Street.
Rides are one-way only.

My DH and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time in December to ride the old time blue car. The car pulled up and another lady with a stroller and an older lady were waiting for it. They wanted to ride, but were told that no strollers were allowed. Since we were right there, I asked if we could go. The driver happily said yes and let us on. No one else was waiting, so we took off down Main Street. It was an unexpected thrill. People waved as we went by. I waved back and giggled like a little kid the whole way. We'd never even tried to ride these before since we were always in a rush to get to our first ride. I read somewhere that they only run until about 10:15 or so. Before getting out at the castle, we asked the driver to take a picture of us. It really is one of the highlights from this trip!

Park Opening is the best time to ride.

The Omnibus is my favorite-riding on the top floor of the bus gives a whole new perspective to Main Street USA.

I always thought they stopped doing these. I remember the horse drawn transportation as a kid. Nice to know if I go when the park opens I may be able to have a nostalgic moment
