Main Street Bakery closing at WDW

Let's replace the line of stores on Main Street with a WalMart!

I love the OLD Main Street. What are we leaving for our kids & grandchildren? Starbucks Coffee wins over the Main Street Bakery?!?

It is criminal!

I guess it is Progress?! :confused3

The one at DCA blends in nicely with the rest of the street. They had other typical Disney treats and the cast members were dressed in typical Disney costuming. And, as a plus the coffee wasnt anymore expensive there than at a traditional starbucks. AND the cups and starbucks and DCA logo on them.

Frankly, lets bring a good cup of coffee to Magic Kingdom! By the time I wrestle 3 kids up, through transportation and the gates, a cup of coffee would make it all better before we start our adventure! :)

If MSB is closing in January and not reopening until early summer, you know there are going to be major changes. And I have to agree with a pp, Starbucks baked goods aren't that good. MSB, I will miss you. Wonder if they will also stop the "bakery air" coming out of the store.

The layout needs to be changed since Starbucks drinks are made to order. The current layout is you go through the line, pick out your baked goods, they pour the coffee and then you go over to another line to pay. That would not work with Starbucks specialty drinks that are made to order, it would hold up the line too much. The one at DCA has 2 identical lines. You go to the register, order, pay. If you have baked goods, they get them out of the case for you. Your drink is then made to your order and you pick it up at the end of the line. If you just have baked goods, you walk away at the register, no need to stand in the rest of the line.

Regarding the quality of the baked goods, they had a couple shelves of Starbucks stuff but the rest of the case was Disney stuff. They are not getting rid of of Disney baked goods.

The store will still carry Main Street Bakery items. I will be quite happy to find a place at Disney World that has a decent cup of coffee.

Is there a closing date in January set? Or is it just "January"?

The Disney Parks blog has now clarified that the bakery will still have the same theming, still have the same name, and it will still serve Disney favorites like cookies, brownies and seasonal cupcakes. They also mentioned the cinnamon rolls are available in the new Fantasyland now. So it sounds like all the worry is probably unnecessary.

I'll take first world problems for $1,000 Alex.

Wow, quit the over reaction going on. Starbucks isn't replacing the Main Street Bakery and they never were. Period. They are going to serve Starbucks coffee there but it will be staffed by cast members, Starbucks branding will be kept to a minimum, and while the baked goods offered may change they will still be Disney baked goods, not Starbucks baked goods. There may be some additional offerings that Starbucks brings in but they will not be replacing the entire bakery.

Geez, who could have foreseen that? ;)

There were plenty of sponsorship in DisneyLand when it first opened. This isn't new.

And if you think about it, if your hometown Main Street opened a Disney owned/themed bakery, do you think it would go over well?
