Main Dining time

I prefer late dining...
  • watch the shows first (when my clothes are free of food stains)
  • more port time
  • get to sleep in for the later debarkation breakfast
  • less busy on the West Coast itineries

I just noticed on my res that it says Main Dining. Last time we had late. How can I make the switch? We sail July 10. Can I get it moved before then or should I wait until we get on board? Can my TA do this for me?

Any of those, call TA, call DCL or ask on embarkation, the switch from Main to Late is easy as the majority of people prefer main dinner.

TY! We've only cruised once on second dining so I'm not sure if we should switch to what we know or try something different. I can see the pros and cons both ways.

I always say MAIN

Late is too late.

You are normally back from shore trips before Main with only a couple of exceptions.
Its normal dinner >>Show not show then dinner.
Its lets your food go 'down'.
You do not sleep with just eaten dinner.
Its a rush to pirates night.
Breakfast is 7.30am to 10am lunch 12 noon to 2pm.
Its a long wait till dinner on late and you may spoil it eating fast food.
Kids who are young may not make it to late dinner and often fall asleep or have meltdowns.
Neither is rushed some say main is rushed no it has two hours and 15 minutes thats long enough.
By logic of if you are in port you may miss dinner on main well you can miss a show on late.
You will be working to local ship time for breakfast lunch and port trips so your body would have adjusted and some people theory of eating to home local time doesn't make sense.

While dinner than show may be "normal" to you it's not the case with everyone. We prefer late dining.

I'm choosing late next cruise. We started the day later since we have teens that stayed at clubs very late. We also stayed out late watching karaoke or other bands. So it seemed like we could have eaten later since we just had lunch. Go with your family rhythm! We made it work even with early dinner.

Late dining fan here. Not a fan of show before dinner though. I am a fan of the night they had a encore show at 11pm open to everyone, and the sea day that they had a matinee showing at 2 pm. We like to come back to our state room on port days and have a chance for a quick nap and a shower. so we don't want to do anything before at least 730 pm.
I know, odd man out, not the Disney early to bed early to rise cruiser. Although, to be honest, my last cruise to Alaska on HAL, things got Disney quick about 11 pm.

I love early dining. But then I also like to get up by 5am, have a workout, shower and then a coffee at Cove café around 7:00am and enjoy the ship when it's empty and quiet.

My family is used to eating early and I can't imagine having a full tummy and going to bed soon thereafter. But to each his own. :)

We decided to just stick with the main dining time. Since this is only our second cruise, we've done second seating and now will try this. Hopefully our table mates will be awesome and we won't see lots of bad habits during the show (seat/row saving, talking throughout the show, etc.).

I think thats a great choice, and you will love it..

Enjoy your cruise.

Main dining for us. Dinner time at home is between 5:30 and 6:30 PM so main just works better.

I agree dinner and a show sounds better than a show then dinner.

*We are a military family - 0700 is my sleeping in!
